Hey guys, I want to do a suspension mod to my obs, but don't have the money for either coil overs or springs..

Do you think a strut bar would be a good investment? They are less than $100 so it fits my range.

You already have a rear sway bar right?

I love the coils, guys! Took some pics of my OBS recently, hopefully it starts to get warm so I can take some more.

Sadly, I do not. The prices alone have scared me off, so I went on google, and read about the strut bar. That alone got me interested in buying a Megan Racing Front Strut Bar. For $100, it seemed like a great price!

You should be able to find a used one for around $100, if not cheaper. That will be a better upgrade than a strut bar IMHO.

Oh sweet!

Is there a preference between the different sizes of the bars for the OBS?
Ill go do some research, but I think I may do Sway bars first if I can find them cheap. the WRX sways should fit the 2.5i's, but not the STI, correct?

Thanks

Oh really? I thought the track on the STI was wider than that of the WRX and base imprezas.

Thanks

I got the rallitek front end rear sway bars. Love them. Improved handling drastically. Worth the extra coin to me, but not everyone wants to spend 350.

AH. Yea, I saw those Rallitek ones since I saw them in an earlier post. $350 was ridiculously high for my wallet.

Before I make my mind up on Rear Sway or Front Strut bar, Is there a downside to modifiying the front/Rear at different times?

Like if I get a Front Strut bar, will I loose traction easier in the rear?
Or If I get the Rear sway, will I loose traction easier on the front?

Thanks.

I just put the rear STI bar on mine.... got it and WRX endlinks on the forums for around $100 shipped and it's an amazing difference in the way the cars feels/handles. I think the 08+ WRX bar is 16mm, and the STI is 18mm.

I'd do a RSB before a strut brace any day of the week!

Ahhhh. Decisions decisions.... Hopefully I can find a sti rsb with endlinks for that price or lower. BTW is it a difference you can feel even in the city? Most of my driving has been city recently.

Yeah, all around it's just a more fun ride... I also got new tires too, so that also probably has something to do with it. The car feels tighter and has far less body roll now...

Ah sorry for the very noob question, but what do you mean "the car feels" tighter?

From "Rallyshark" over on 3gwrx.com:

http://www.3gwrx.com/forum/index.php/topic,2605.0.html

Rear WRX Sway bracket Part Numbers for 2.5i Owners

I'm sure there is a 2.5i impreza owner out there besides me that needs these part numbers.

I'm 99% sure these are the correct part numbers, but please check before ordering Happy Modding!

Aftermarket sways will come with new bushings (and you'll probably want to buy upgraded endlinks as well.) So you'll just need 2 brackets and 4 bolts.

Bracket: 20466FG000 (you'll need 2)
Bolts for brackets: 010108200 (you'll need 4)

If you get perrin endlinks or whiteline endlinks, you should get new bolts from perrin or whiteline to affix them to the bar and suspension arm...If you get rallitek endlinks or another type of OEM style endlink, you'll need to use the OEM bottom bolt and nut.

Bottom nut for endlink: 902350001 (you'll need 2)
Bottom bolt for endlink: 901000221 (you'll need 2)

The above 4 part numbers I pulled directly from the part bags...so I know they are correct. The below I have not "checked."
------------------------------------------------------------

Just in case you want to go stock WRX rear sway assembly, here is some other info:

Nut to hold endlink to sway bar: 902370046 (you'll need 2)

Stock Bushings: 20464FG000 (you'll need two)

Rear endlinks: 20470FG000 (need 2)

Stock WRX rear sway: 20541FG000 (just one, of course)
