Hey guys, It's been a while for me. I've been working on my car trying to get it ready for the biggest car event of the Pittsburgh year, The Vintage Grand Prix car show. I will have a couple more changes by then but here is what "she" looks like now with her Rota Grids in Hyper Black.

Unless it's just me I'm very impressed that with some work I was able to fit 18x9.5"s wrapped with 235/40/18s on a NON-widebody Subaru. I haven't seen many 08-10 WRX guys do this size and only about a handful nonturbo guys like us. Anyway, I'm still not sure I'm completely satisfied with my wheel choice so I might be switching that.

Enjoy and let me know what you think!

That setup looks really good on there! Nice to see a wide setup on a narrow body N/A car!

Can you give any details on the fitment? Did you have to roll or pull the fenders at all? And are you running BC BR series coilovers?

And one last question: whenever you have time can you put up a nice, color full side shot? I would really like to see what that color of wheel looks like on the silver OBS.

Nice work!

Nice work!
Fitment was a PITA. I first rolled the rear fenders with a roller. I tried the roller on the front fenders but it wasn't going to work properly because the car was to low for the arm on the roller. I couldnt get the right angle. So I did them by hand.

I took a hand tool that had a handle made of plastic (so I wouldn't scratch or scuff the paint) with a diameter of about an inch and a half. I then slowly started working the angle to roll the fender lip upwards, rolling the tool over the tire. Then once the lips were rolled I continued to pull the fenders out. All this was after heating the paint of course

So in the end both front and rear fenders are rolled and pulled. I'm sitting sorda high for this kind of set up. As of right now I do not rub at all unless my wheels are fully turned and I'm going over a huge bump. I am on BC Racing BR Series coilovers (the silly sticker has been removed as of today though ).

And I will be more then glad to take that kind of pic, I've been wanting to do that anyway since my favorite shot of the car was along this wall. But I didn't have my wheels at the time, so I'll be taking an updated shot soon!

Edit: I did take this pic last week if this counts as something you might want to see.....

Loving both pictures! I really can't wait to get a set of the BC coilovers. Your original shots from a while back with the new coilovers and on the stock wheels made such a dramatic difference in how good the car looks! I like the way they look stock, sure, but closing that wheel gap, even on stock wheels makes a huge difference!

I am getting my last shifter piece this week: COBB double adjustable short shifter (it is with the UPS man as we speak). That will go with the parts I already have: SPT short shift assembly, Perrin front shifter bushing and Kartboy rear shifter bushing. Will be done with that part of the car then!

Then it will be on to suspension: Whiteline f/r sway bars and endlinks and BC BR Series coilovers. Then want to powdercoat the stock wheels gloss black this winter and then might be done with the car after that stuff...

Again, your car is looking great!

You're 100% correct. Lowering our cars changed it so much, and even on stock wheels it looks amazing. The reason why I waited so long for wheels was because I was so in love with the stock ones. And even at Subie meets I would get complements on my wheels lots of people asked to trade .

Sounds like you have a good amount of mods in to your car. I need to start with the short throw parts (short throw, and all the bushings). Mostly I did my cosmetic stuff first then threw in some suspension along the way.

Overall I'm happy with the car. It's been 2 years and a month with her

I definitely get some "turbo envy" hanging around everyone in the local club, but otherwise I am quite happy with the car. I just want to firm up the riding and handling. And the shifting is now SOOO much better than stock. Each step has been worth it. Want to do a couple other suspension bushings, too, and the Grimmspeed master cylinder support and brake upgrade and call it good. Maybe hit some track days now and then.

I get turbo envy also but they can't keep up with me in the turns hahahah so they have fun blowing me away on the straights but then I take them in the turns and they can't keep up

How's your light bar holding up? I've heard some have issues with how it mounts.

It sucks. Started rusting a couple months after I got it so I sprayed undercoat on the whole thing (the whole upper part of the bar was full of water when I took it off to undercoat it) I also added the 2 brackets at the top and screwed them in the plate holes because it was bouncing way too much. Not to mention I had to add new mounting holes to the bar itself because they didn't line up with anything on the car, also the mounting points for the lights aren't the greatest.

If you were looking to get one I would advise you to look elsewhere.

It definitely is NOT worth the price, I went to a local speed shop and they said they could make the exact same bar and powder coat it for way less than $100. I'm going to have them make me a beefier bar and skid plate that would be easy to remove and also be much stronger for less than what I paid for the RI bar.

Guys... need some help ... I am ordering the H&R lowering springs this weekend. Researched and found this is the best bet for comfort & performance.

I shopped around a few mechanic shops for installing this for me... since I live in an apartment and dont have the place and right tools... I got a quote of $300 ~ $400 .... I live in MA. Any idea how much does it really cost for labor?

Appreciate the feedback ...

I think way earlier the same question was posted and the reply was around $250-400?
