This is not a 48 but still in the family and there have been no posts for sometime. I would just like to post for reference to anyone thinking of doing the same setup or similar and am happy to answer questions about it.

320.5whp
318 lb/ft tq

Car went 12.80@110 slipping 4th gear @ 4600ft elevation

Only complaint was the lag

Went VF39 on a stock EJ205/ block and heads. Few bolt-ons, stock 5spd and stock Subaru original clutch double
Large eBay-ish topmount
38mm v band ewg
E85 fuel
ID1000 injectors
Invidia catless DP
Gimmick catback
21.5 psi peak boost tapering to 18 by redline.

Yeah a stronger trans/ clutch setup as well a 2.5L shortblock would have made
It more ideal. Fairly impressed with the numbers it put down both at the track and on the dyno. No longer have the car, but it's still going

just wanted to know when are you hitting full boost with all that pnp work its gota be pretty quick.

has anyone seen a vf48 on a 2.0 make over 330whp with 93 oct. im at 316 now with only 18lbs. so im gona turn it up to maybe 22 and get the grimmspeed x over pipe id like to get that high just to see if the vf can do it.

Default stock clutch?

how many 2.5L wrx owners have their stock clutch with the VF48? (stock tranny here)

Just wondering how much boost you are running at.

Mine started to slip badly above 20psi, I read some people have have stock clutch running at higher psi. Just wondering maybe my clutch is at the end of the line, but I don't want to upgrade to ACT because of shockload to the tranny.

If your clutch is slipping its likely dying/dead. The PSI doesn't matter, its the amount of load you are putting on the clutch and how much friction it has left. Sounds like you need a new clutch.

I'm running a stock replacement clutch instead of the ACT for the same reasons you listed above and I am at 20 PSI with no clutch slippage on my VF48, but I also have a 2.0L so my numbers are only 275/250 to the wheels.

so this dyno reads a stock STi at 220whp...you are on a 2.0 liter correct?

something doesn't add up, unless this is a really high correction factor

if you are at 316whp on a 2.5 liter, it would almost be possible, but still not work as you are on pump gas. Idk too many issues with your post for me to answer in my pea brain

yeah i think there is a larger difference when you factor in the 2.5L.

I read stickies saying that stock tranny should be stock clutch. I think for the sake of not killing my tranny too fast the options are fairly limited. A 6sp is starting to look very expensive now

stock sti's, at least in the 04-07 MY range, make 200 whp on my tuner's mustang dyno. I'm making 280 whp at 17.5 psi with the vf48, full exhaust with ELH, big APS topmount, etc.

How many of you guys are running meth on stock VF48s? Just picked up a 2011 and pondering this idea.

I'm going to be getting my car protuned sometime in the near future and am thinking about doing meth injection on it, the car would have the following

Full 3" catless TBE with straight pipes
Short ram intake
Cobb Acessport
NGK Plugs

Pretty much just your basic Stage 2 protune, I'm a little concerned about maxing out the injectors/turbo with running meth though? I would also be using the stock TMIC for this, anyone running a setup similar that could comment?

I know that meth would keep the IDCs down but enough to run it fairly safely? The reason I ask about using meth now is LATER LATER down the line this car will have a gt35 running meth.

Here is the car 80 miles on the odometer so far.

If you plan to get meth later on, and your budget can fit it now, then get it now

But is it or is it not smart to get it with a stock TMIC?

It's meth injection or a EWG setup.... I know meth will net me more gains. Perhaps both? Since either one will require a tune for sure.

In search of more power from my vf48. just picked up a set of modded 860cc injectors. gonna pick up an upgraded IWG from a buddy of mine. need to invest in a turbo inlet. invest in an intake .. probably cobb sf intake. install intake spacers and the a retune. anyone have any idea what i can potentially push the turbo to safely?

I have a stock EJ255 and I am running DW 850's, TIH, hi flow filter in stock box and all pnp'd intake man., tgv deletes, pnp'd VF48 and GS pnp'd stock exhaust. It handles 22psi with a 4-5 deg. temp differential most days. It spools very quickly!

I swapped the tgv deletes and did the PnP stuff more for future mods but it doesn't hurt the vf48. Numbers are just that, my car was tuned on a heart breaker mustang 260/310, who knows what it would be on another dyno. This motor destroyed 5th gear of the FXT 5mt on top end pulls, so it makes good power and torque. I Also swapped in the full 07' 6 speed driveline. I would definitely do the GrimmSpeed pnp'd stocker exhaust.

Grimmspeed pnp'd my vf48 so the did a bit of work on the IWG porting. I get some WG flutter around 20+ psi, but it doesn't hurt the power and holds boost it just sounds funny.
