I have the "no-name" TMIC from eBay and it's working fine so far. The fit is still an issue & a big pain in the a$$. It hits the AC line. Seems like they are starting to get the fit dialed in though. My 03 pulls longer now. It actually came with a BOV, but haven't installed it yet. Not sure if I will.

I have a vf48 in my 05 Wrx, and it drops right it. You can use all the original oil/ cooling lines.

Thanks. It's a pretty amazing difference from the td04, but driving the 2.0 I can see how it would apply better to a 2.5 from the factory's point of view.

Just got my VF48 in the mail last week and I should be getting my injectors/fuel pump at the end of this week. I am hoping to get it installed the second week of may and a tune maybe the end of that week or the next week. Wish me luck!

Really I'd say the opposite. The power band of a VF with a 2.0L is much stronger than the 2.5L. The 2.5L its a torque monster don't get me wrong, but with the VF it falls on its face up top. The 2.0L pulls all the way to redline.

Eh, the vf48 on a 2.5L feels like a V8. It's still pretty fun.

I'm not saying it doesn't kick you in your ass and I've driven a 2.5L VF48 w/ ~340wtq its awesome. But there is just something to be said for a powerband that is completely flat from 5k-7.5krpms. If I had 2.5L TD04 I would have went with a 16G swap as opposed to mf VF48 swap for the same reason. No hate meant here, VF48 LOVE.

Default Need pro tuner recommendations...

2006 STI.

I really do not want to replace the turbo on my vehicle. The dealer just installed a new VF48. Car has 65K miles on it. Never any issues.

I would like to increase the boost and rpm range that the turbo is currently configured to reach.

Cobb Stage 2
Cobb Access port V 1.0
Cobb TBE
AEM CAI
NGK Iridium plugs
Walbro 255 Pump
Stock STI TMIC
Redline Synthetics

260 HP @ 5300 RPM
304 FtLb @ 3900 RPM

My goal is to go back to Adam and have him get 300-320 HP on his dyno.

Runs great with a Pro Tune by Adam at Revolutions Performance in Colorado Springs. He uses a Dyno Dynamics Dyno. These dyno numbers were achieved with the injectors hitting an 81% duty cycle.

With a more aggressive tune is there more power to be squeezed out of the engine without increasing the risk for failure to an unacceptable point? This is my daily driver.

With a VF48 is there enough turbo to max out the stock 550 cc side feed injectors in my search for more hp or will this model turbo not be able to pump enough air through the motor? I would install DW 740 CC injectors if the IDC was beyond "safe" limits. In the quest for more power would it be a good move to change the plugs to a 1 step colder model?

Right now I have the stock STI TMIC. Would replacing with a larger model be beneficial in adding more boost safely?

I understand that the Cobb pro tuners try to stay within Cobb guidelines of boost control to max the boost at about 18 psi and then reduce it to about 15 psi. Is the VF48 capable of producing enough boost to reach 20 psi and at what peak RPM? If it will reach 20 psi how far out will it hold it?

I am looking to responses from Cobb pro tuners who have experience in working with the hardware and guidelines that I am seeking.

Based upon your experience while tuning in your shops is this a realistic goal or are there other paths?

Thanks

I'm shooting for 300whp with the following:
VF48
560CC 06WRX Injectors
Prodrive 3-port BCS
MadDad V2 UEL Header and Uppipe
Helix Catted DP
Tanabe Medalion Touring catback
Cobb Airbox Intake
TurboXS TMIC
NGK 1-Step colder

I spoke to a tuner who said the injectors should be fine, but i see a lot of people on here upgrade their injectors. thats another cost and delay for me. what should i do, should i just run it with the stockers or go for the upgrade?

Also, would it matter if i went with catless dp instead of catted?
