Default 92 Legacy EJ22T downpipe question

Does anyone know if an aftermarket down pipe made for a WRX will work without mods on a 92 turbo legacy?

It will bolt up fine to the turbo and Transmission drop bracket. It is longer however.

From left to right.
USDM WRX 3" bellmouth, USDM WRX cat-less upper-downpipe, stock USDM WRX, stock '93 Legacy turbo (possibly the same as JDM WRX).

should have tagged them 02-07 usdm wrx dps

as i believe a 92-03 jdm wrx dp is the right length

you need the years as an usdm 08-09 wrx dp is even longer like the 05+lgt

what happens if you bolt up a WRX downpipe, to a WRX exhaust on a 91 Legacy SS?

could you just make the catback shorter rather than cutting up the DP?
because my buddy wants to just use a WRX catless dowpipe, and then get the "catback" made at an exhaust shop.

That's exactly what I did. No need to touch a WRX downpipe, only the cat-back. And you need to extend the Cat-back, not shorten it.

can't you just leave it short and have the pipe slightly under the bumper or is it the hangers that don't line up?

we put a stock wrx downpipe on my buddies TLeg last weekend. then he got the catback built at a shop for like 190 bucks. way good deal. and then he is going to be able to bolt up a wrx catless downpipe to that.

the flange angle might be off on the dp, mine hit my axel

i cut the midpipe and bent it at adifferent angle, if your stock dp back, it's way to long, if you can use a rex aftermarket dp back youll only need to lengthen it 3-4 inches

put in the dp, and take it to a shop

unless u can weld

I put the Nvidia V3 bellmouth for an 04 WRX on my 91 Tleg. It sits a little low. I also had to extend the wires for the oxygen sensor, no biggie.

I ended up using a megan racing dp for a wrx, and an spt catback. The only mods I made were adding a section of pipe (with flanges) that went from the dp to the catback. I then heated/bent the hangers on the can to reposition them and tuck nicely under the bumper. The slant tip on the spt pretty much lines up evenly with the bumper.
