Default What's this wire/sensor/plug? JDM v3 STi

trying to figure out some remaining wires on my v3 swap.
this wire comes out of the engine like so:
will update with more wire questions when i get to them

02/20/09 heres another im not sure about but it looks important
http://i43.tinypic.com/27yn5go.jpg

10/25/08: http://i35.tinypic.com/10newj4.jpg
it is a white wire with green stripe and 1 dot. it comes out of the coolant crossover tube, and i followed it all the way back up into the dash somewhere to a black plug with about 10 small pins.

ide bet coolant temp sensor, for the gauge. it dose not go to the ECU just up to the gauge in the I/P.

thanks! ppl on rs25 said the same

got another one:
1 wire (no splits or joins)
on engine block harness it is green w/white stripe (i think)
goes to the main harness and changes to red with a blue stripe
goes straight up to the gauge cluster

when i traced that pin on the gauge cluster plug on the stock USDM 93 impreza cluster, it looks like its for the "defrost on" light, which doesnt seem to make any sense. is that right? or does the RHD/JDM cluster (old style impreza, not 2.5RS style) have something else in that spot? or are the wire trace paths different?

The RL wire for the oil pressure light has also been several other colors on the Version 3. On later JDM cars it is WR and on USDM it is either GW or GB. Either way it goes to the cluster. One more thing to note is that the older cars the temp gauge is two wire, one goes from the gauge to the sending unit and the other then grounds to the ECU via a sensor ground along with a couple other wires, usually RG.

One wire that you will not find much info on is the WL wire that runs to the cluster, this one is for a EGT warning light.

there was a white/blue wire in the ecu that on the charts i saw, it wasnt used in a swap, and IIRC its not on the ECU pinout diagram. is that what youre talking about? btw what does EGT stand for anyways

WL=White/Blue. In the FSM Subaru indicates blue wires as L since B indicates Black.
EGT=Exhaust Gas Temp

Looks like a light sensor to me. My STI swap had a light sensor on the dashboard for the auto-ac.

i didnt get a cluster with my engine. though i bought a JDM v3ish STi carbon-fiber-bezel cluster on ebay. I havent plugged it in but from what ive seen all the early jdm clusters, at least v1-3, illuminate kindof whiteish red
