OMGHi2U P&L Motorsports Open Source Tuning by Jorge

We understand the difficulties our customers are facing with the economy. We've had several customers continuously ask about when we'd start working with alternative tuning tools for Subaru and Mitsubishi vehicles.

Our biggest issue has always been in the maturity of the tools to be able to offer advanced and time effective tuning techniques, allowing for proper calibration of key elements like intake calibration. Up to this point, in our opinion, the only PROPER way of working with something like intake calibration has been to do its tuning in real time. The Cobb Tuning Access Port has always allowed us to do that, but with its price tag (even if it is the least expensive of all the professional tuning options), it has forced consumers to reconsider their fiscal priorities.

So, to help alleviate the financial burden P&L Motorsports will be doing Open Source tuning (direct ECU re-flashing that doesn't need hardware to be purchased separately) for Subaru and Mitsubishi vehicles that use either stock intakes, or a very limited amount of aftermarket intakes. For Subaru, we'll work with Cobb, SPT, stock and P&L's line of HighFLO intakes. For Mitsubishi, we'll work with the stock intake/airbox.

Tuning will still be charged at normal hourly rate, and we encourage you to call with any questions, taking advantage of this fiscally conservative opportunity.

-Jorge

... and that hasn't changed. Thus why we're limiting WHAT is tuned because of the limitations of the software. We're working within what I consider to be the appropriate limitaitons of the software; allowing me to deliver the quality of tune that you yourself know of personally.

Its not to say that AP's don't sell. I can't keep my inventory on the shelf for anything more then a few days before I'm out again. But, this is of benefit to some, especially with the economy the way it is for some people.

Thanks for the bump though.

Finally get everything dialed in for your car? I've been checking your thread for the last few months since you baselined, and I never saw an updated dyno plot. Hope you got that boost spike fixed up!

Yeah, everything's awesome right now...except for my clutch.
It's on it's way out, so no dyno just yet, but got it all working beautifully. Boost is nice and smooth, I believe Matt's got some logs around here somewhere .

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing some results with Open Source tunes.

As long as its limited to intakes with proper MAF calibrations, it will be no different then anything else I do. It will only take longer.

Good to hear you're finally got your boost spike fixed bud. I could have only imagined with the cold weather what to expect!

see you made the jump to the open source side of things. You can tune a car perfectly calibrating a MAF from scratch...I have done it time and time again with great results. Remember we talked about that before

there are few limits to what you can do with open source, especially with the new innovations they've made in tuning parameters.

But its an economy of scale.

If I spend 3 hours tuning a MAF table (to meet my ANAL standard) at $199/hr, that's the cost of the AP...

Or, I can use a limited selection of intakes and then the economy comes in vs the currently superior solution.

But, like before, we can agree to disagree, Matt.

I'm excited now because I went OpenSource after having issues with my old AP. I've been pretty happy with it so far and now that you are offering to tune with it I will most likely be down for a tune some time.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to you getting a 5+psi spike on top of that spike and popping that block like a virgins cherry. We all know how much our cars enjoy the cooler air and increased volumes

A lot of what caused that was an incorrectly installed GM boost control solenoid. We corrected the improper installation and it was fine.
