Default 95 Legacy wagon swap options

Hi all,

Been awhile since i posted here, but I've decided to bring my dead '95 back to life. The engine has sticking valves, so i picked up a set of junkyard heads for about $150 to replace them. I am wondering though, why are parts of subies so expensive? For example, I looked at partsamerica and saw that valve guides (which i suspect are the cause), are about $9 apiece, while guides for my '86 Fiero are $3 each. Are there any subie engines that are cheaper to mantain that are good swap candidates? I really like having the legacy around for poor weather, as my Fiero doesn't handle too well when the roads aren't dry, but the cost of parts is a huge sticking point for me.
TIA
