Default 05 STI weird tranny noise with dccd set to open

I always drive with the dccd in auto mode. I played around with the DCCD a bit when i got the car in 2005. Since then, maybe 10 times i've played with the DCCD... and at stock power levels, unless your in the redlines, it didnt make a noticeable difference.

I am currently running 400whp/400wtq, with 56000miles on the car, and STOCK clutch.. (now slipping a little) no tranny mods other than shifter bushings.

Recently I've had some free time on my hand(thanks to the lovely economy), and i started playing around with the dccd a bit.. its amazing what difference the dccd set to open makes with the extra power over stock, its easier to rotate the rear end on the track and induce a little rear slippage on tight turns.

Yesterday i was pulling into the parking lot(with the dccd in open) and while pulling into the spot, I heard a weird mechanical noise from the tranny. I reset the dccd to auto and did the same move, and no noise. Set DCCD to open, and voila noise again.

So did i break something, or does the tranny get noisy when DCCD is set to full open?

Before people get on the regular train...
I'm not trying to get free warranty work if something indeed is wrong,
And I know I've a med-high power car and the tranny will eventually wear
And I DONT launch the car every day of the week,
And I havent been driving around with the DCCD in OPEN... just when i'm approaching a tight turn, i flick it to manual mode set to open to take it ONCE in a while.
And I don't drive it like i stole it all the time.

So with all that, could the tranny guru's chime in to educate me.
