Default JDM 207 GC8 ECU vs US gas?

Would there be a problem with the JDM GC 207 on US 93?

I may be wrong, but I thought all the type R where sti? (mine is)

On my old 20k I ran 93 (us gas) for about an hour, then drained the tank and did a proper fill. I don't think there was any pre-det, but it ran really rough. That could have been the crappy gas too though.

I run 93 on my version 8 JDM STI swap and I notice knock when I'm at low RPMs (before knock correction kicks in) I use alcohol injection to bump up the octane when in boost. It would probably be a good idea to tune for whatever fuel you are going to run.

Just fill it up with premium and you will be fine if the engine is stock. Japan uses only RON which ends up being a higher number than our system (RON+MON/2) with basically the same fuel. If you don't know what RON and MON are, google it!

yes but e-10 93 has a different lambda than 93 with no ethanol

needless to say my standard 97 wrx, which has a j&s safe guard, pulls timing regularly under boost..
