Default '08 STI stock with AP base map vs Pro tuned

This '08 STI was one of the few stock cars I have seen in a long time for a custom tune

This dyno sheet is the base line - 100% stock

Middle is Cobb Stage I 93 off the shelf map

Top is custom tuned Pro Tune map

So it's making 301/353 with no mods except a custom tune?

For some reason I find that hard to believe, even on a Dynojet...

I'm not hating, but if that's the case then that's a VERY potent, very underrated car.

boost...afr....anything?

i think the stock peak hp would been 10-15whp higher if it didnt knock at 5500rpm

can you explain how you guys (tuners in general) pick up hp at high rpm with these small turbos? From what ive seen the stock maps run a crap load of timing as it is.....and leaning it out doesnt seem to pick up that much (not 40whp worth).

that leaves boost. what does the boost taper to on a stock 08? and where did you end up on the tune? has to be going from 10psi stock up to 14psi or 12 up to 16....am i close?

looks good. tuning has come a long way in the last 8 years....

Most of my 08 STi maps taper to around 14.5 psi up top. That is pretty much all the stock turbo has to give up there. Most tuned maps will actually run less timing up top than the stock maps, but between the increased boost, leaner AFR's and optimized AVCS (particularly exhaust AVCS on the 08's) you can increase peak power significantly over stock. BTW, I can say that the average stock 08 STi makes about 20 whp less (albeit on CA91 octane) on my Dynojet than the car in the original post made for Al.

257WHP/270WTQ stock.

That's a high reading dyno... but it's a good baseline/starting point so that if or when it makes huge numbers on a mild turbo upgrade, we'll know why.

Very. My guess is this car is actually around 270/300 whp/wtq.

Timeslips would be a better judge.

91 octane is a totally different subject.

The gains in top end power result from leaning out the a/f slightly, running more boost, reducing the open loop delay, and avcs.

Comparing numbers from one Dyno to another is not very useful. I am more interested in comparing the difference from starting and ending point. That and the shape of the curve are what I look at. Al
