Went out to the street legal drags at California Speedway today and thought I did OK for my first time out at the track but definitely have room for improvement. I got seven runs but I'll only post the best 3
R/T .484 60’ 1.933 330’ 5.345 1/8 8.211 Mph 86.86 1000’ 10.64 ¼ 12.719 Mph 109.12 R/T .618 60’ 1.98 330’ 5.444 1/8 8.282 Mph 87.93 1000’ 10.692 ¼ 12.75 Mph 110.05 R/T .332 60’ 2.13 330’ 5.656 1/8 8.499 Mph 85.98 1000’ 10.914 ¼ 12.956 Mph 111.92 The car is a '03 WRX with hybrid swap, 100mm pistons, headwork, cams, 18G, FMIC, stock 5-speed, spare tire removed All runs on BFG KDWs and street pressure (33F/35R) I would have been pumped if I could have run a 12.5 my first time out but I think I should be able to get it next time with practice. Any suggestions on what I can do to drop my times. Thanks all.

Improve your launch, for every 10th of a second lower on the launch you should see about 2tenths of a second lower on the 1/4mi time. Also flat foot shifting will help but its risky because you can chew gears up if you miss shift. What are your shift points? I'm pretty sure with an 18g you should take it to redline.

its the launch for sure...i was in a 2002 wrx wagon when i went to the strip, only had 16.5 psi and turboback exhaust, and i was seeing 1.89 as my best 60ft time. So, in your situation i would imagine you should be able to at least get that into the 1.80-1.70 range...get on dragtimes.com and see what other people with your setup are getting...thats what i do. If you can take a tenth or two off your launch you are looking at at least 2 off in the end...

also raising your tire pressure too may help to help you get some wheel spin (faster launch in some cases on AWD cars)

60ft definately could be better, however Fontana is also just a slow track. I also could not get it all together for one run, fastest ET yesterday was 13.1, MPH was 107.58 and 60ft 1.85.

Fontana is the only strip in SoCal. Unfortunately the next street legals event isn't until Nov. 1st however Battle of the Imports will be held Oct. 18-19th. |

Today was a good day. I bested my expectations and would have been happy with the 12.57 run but this 12.405 run after bouncing off the rev limiter in 3rd give me confidence I can go faster if I tried. Next time I run I'll probably have the 3076, TGV deletes, ported TB, and ported intake manifold on and a good tune. I wonder about how much my times "should" improve by.
I really had a good time whooping that turbo supra that was trapping 125+. Traction>>>>>Him. Best run of the day to. Here it is R/T ..352 60’ 1.800 330’ 5.167 1/8 7.91 Mph 88.96 1000’ 10.358 ¼ 12.405 Mph 112.00 |

by your posts in bmd i would think you are in the 10 second range!
some of the guy's launch VERY high in the rev limiter, to say the least..it didn't help me, but i could see why if they have the right tires, drag alignment, susp setup how it would work well |

i bet if you could get atleast a 1.7 or maybe even a 1.6... you would see maybe 12 flats.... high 11s maybe?
