Default 09 WRX vs. 04-05 STi vs. 03-04 EVO vs. 09 Ralliart?

I was wondering how many of you would go with what. I really LOVE the thought of a BRAND NEW, only mine car but when you look deeper you think "Oh damn? I could have bought a nice low mileage STi or EVO for this price? is Brand new really worth it?" What do you think?

Would you rather have the

Brand new feeling of a 2009 WRX? or...

Brand new feeling of a 2009 Ralliart? or...

a used EVO or STi?

I find it SO hard to chose, it's either the car you always wish you could have had new? Or taking to road of the lesser but newer.

ok so why do people continue to buy new WRX's when they could have a USED STi for the same price or a lot less $$$

Probably because it's gonna be really hard to find an 04/05 sti (mainly 05) that hasn't been modified or beaten on.

Ralliart probably shouldn't even be in this decision. All reviews I've seen have the 09 wrx smashing it.

I voted for 04/05 sti (mainly 05) because it's still obviously an STI and has better parts in certain areas.

I would NEVER buy a used evo. That's just asking for trouble. Unlike the STI, the only people I have ever seen driving EVO's are people who drive like asshats and kids who shouldn't be driving them.

A car that is driven hard can more often than not be taken care of to compensate for that. Driven hard and taken care of is often mistaken for driven hard, neglected/put away wet. I know plenty of people who beat the piss out of their cars but they also treat them like gold. I wouldnt be scared of owning a used EVO or STi. I personally would take the risk to have one of those over a new WRX or Ralliart. The ralliart is in the decision because a lot of people preffer the look of it as well.

if I wanted instant gratification, I would get the STi. If I wanted a more relaxed DD, WRX. The goodies that come on the STi are tough to ignore unless you really dont need them.

First things first, the ralliart is not even an option for me.

It would be a toss up between the sti and the wrx. Now granted the sti will outperform it in every way but the issue with me would be how it was driven previously and what shape it was in. I would probably just end up buying the wrx because its brand new and has a warranty and I wont have to worry about how it was driven by the previous owner. It also depends on how many miles we are talking about on the sti.

Also with the sti, you would have to travel to look at the vehicle, which could be far away depending on the selection. While the performance is always a huge plus, I would rather take less performance for the added security. And while I realize the sti is far superior in every way, the wrx is no slouch either and for most it would be sufficient.

I hate my choices. I went with 09 wrx since its decent, new, and I like the rear suspension.

I went ahead and said wrx.

Its new. It has a warranty. It doesn't have 30k+ miles on it. It hasn't been abused. You know exactly whats been done to it at any moment. Lower insurance. Not a police magnet. Better economy (barely). Almost as fast.

Unless you're gonna go rally or track the car, skip the STi.

I really don't like ralliart either. It's a joke compared to a WRX. But I chose EVO, just because I REALLY don't like the blob eye.

Most people simply don't know how to safely drive MT's hard without damaging them. Plus, it's not all about maintenance with the EVO, which is pretty unreliable from the start regardless of how it is maintained. It's hard to know what kind of owner the previous one was on top of it.

Honestly, I have no plans for tracking my car, and I never did with my '05 or '06 WRX. I don't really need an STI when a WRX more than satisfies my need for a quick, fun to drive car that can also haul outdoor gear and my dog. I also got my new premium WRX 5-door for $26,600, which is much less than most used STI's around here. But price doesn't matter anyways because I prefer the subtle styling of the WRX over the quad exhaust, flared fender look of the STI, which is a bit too "hey look at me" for my preference.

i bought my 04 STi used. no problems and i love it. just gotta check it out before hand. if you buy it CPO at a Subaru dealership you'll get a warranty, plus i wouldn't buy a used car with more than around 30k miles so you'd still have some of the factory warranty left.

with a brand new car you take a huge hit in depreciation immediately. but you know you're the only one that's driven it. with a used car you run a bit of risk on if it's been abused or damaged, but you can get more car for less money.

Subarus are reliable. so even if it's driven hard, as long as it's maintained and checked out, it should be ok.

i guess it really comes down to how important it is to you to be the 1st/only owner. i've never had a brand new car.

People say that you don't know how it was treated before hand so it justifies the price paid out for the new car. You DO know according to what the PPI said so if everything is koser after one of those then who CARES. It's like dating a virgin, MOST of the time it is a BAD thing

Why take on the headache of something 4-5 years old that you know has been driven hard? Get a new WRX and have just as much fun. Unless you are going to a track, what are you really gaining with an old STI?

I haven't had any problems with my 04 sti that I bought used... and that was 2 years ago, back when it was stock.

03-04 Evo VIII gets my vote! It comes with a good motor, the transmission grinds a bit but comes with a good 1/4mile gear ratio and so far my brother who owns one since 2003 the car is still running making 501awhp stock tranny/drivetrain 80K Miles.
