Default Oh ya!! TEN'S baby !!!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Went to the track last night despite the weather man calling for rain.
The outside temp was around 55 deg. with about 70 % humidity.

Made a 11.1 pass and coming back from the ticket booth I got stopped by the track manager and told I need to slow it down as I need a roll cage and a firesuite to got that fast. After begging and barganing with her I got her to agree that I could give it one more try and could she please spray the line as I need to get this pig into the tens.

I've run 11.26 2 weeks ago and they never said squat, with there only being 15 cars there last night with the quickest car being a 13 second runner I guess I drew to much attention.

I got to make one more single pass so I was really concentrating on the launch and wasnt too concerned for my reaction as you can see in the slip.
Just a side note because someone always points it out is that reaction time does not effect your time only comes into in play when you race another car.

I want to give out a big big big big big big thanks to Mike at Innovative tuning for his tuning and build advice throughout the developement of my car. All the crew at Innovative Justin, Joe, Mike Jr,. and John big ups to you guys for the help and mechanic skills on a couple of the jobs to big for me to handle myself.

run was made on c16 (car has gone 11.3at125mph on 93 and 50/50meth at 24.5lbs with street potenza's)

boost was peaking at 27 lbs and holding to 7500 rpm

Congrats Jason! You've been a model customer and friend. All the guys at the shop and I are very happy for you.

I was hoping you'd get more than two passes, only one of them with a real launch. We know you'd only get quicker with practice, lower tire pressure, and accepting potential axle failure and letting it rip. When the girl from the track reluctantly said they'd allow you a second pass, but that was it, I was definitely nervous. I know it's easy to botch a run once a car gets this quick. You did a great job making it happen! They definitely did not spray the track for you.

This ten second pass was a great accomplishment, but I'm happiest because you reached your goal for the car. You gave us what we needed to make it happen, put in a lot of effort on your own, and now you're there. For those who may not know specifically, the goal we were given was that the car could run 11.5's consistently because he didn't want to cage the car or strip the interior etc. We had talked about trying to do it with/without various things like race gas etc. After taking it to the track we found he goes 11.3-11.4 just the way he drives it every day without changing ANYTHING to go racing. No race gas, no drag radials or race tires, no removing weight, no dropping the exhaust, no changing the tune or raising/lowering the boost. No changes necessary at all. To me that's just as cool as knowing the car can run a 10 when he wants to spend a few minutes adjusting things and doesn't mind getting thrown out.

We don't really know if he's the only one who has done this, but we haven't noticed anyone locally or online who has run a 10 second pass in an STi without head porting or upgraded cams, neither of which Jason has, so I'm happy about that too. His power falls after 5500 rpm, same as my car did since I was unported with stock cams. I've tuned STi engines just with porting, just with upgraded cams, and with both and holy cow what a difference those things make on these cars.

I think it's also significant to add that his suspension is basically stock. He has lowering springs. After he gets coilovers traction should be improved, and they're also lighter, allowing for better times.

For the record, we never intended this car to go this fast since this wasn't the goal we were given. For that reason the engine was not sleeved. These passes at 26.5-27 psi are something Jason knows we don't recommend because bore distortion can occur at this power level. If he wants to continue running this power level rather than the one that was intended, he'll have to sleeve it.

There she is:

I can go back but I have to just stay slower than 11.49 and I'm good.

Thanks everybody

Isnt more always better, actually my stock one was toast and it wasn't that expensive for that one so i figured what the hell.
A few of the road coarse guys around Toronto do it to their race cars and way back in the day (early 80's)when I raced roundy round we would always try a find a alternator from a large luxury car that would fit in the race car. Its just what we did.
