Gotcha, I figured as much.

I'm always interested in (seeing) what's out there for communications/marketing.

I am happily employed, however, so it would depend on the company/industry as to whether I'd even entertain the idea... but I don't think this is even the job market to be doing that anyway.

Actually, I do enjoy my jow now, and it's flexible enough that I can continue to go to grad school and do my music on the side. I guess eventually, when I get my MBA, I will see it's not even worth anything.

bump this thread because people need jobs and i'm growing irritated with upper management pulling strings so my performance (on paper) is diminished in such a way that i'm ineligible for a raise even though they profit my yearly salary on a monthly basis just based on what i sell to customers(forget what my handle through the warranty system)
on that note, i'm looking for a service advisor position in the RI area (Ma/CT are workable) at a dealership where i am able to handle my own customers on a regular basis.
i am a hard worker but getting sick of the bull of the current management team.
numbers, reports and details available to anyone who may have a position available.

any ideas....anyone?

I haven't seen anyone getting hired off this thread yet, but I still like the idea of keeping it active. I'm currently underemployed as an electrician and am rather frusrated with my lack of progress on the career change front.

Not really the economy for it, but I am committed to getting out of sales and sales management and into something better for the long run. It doesn't help that I am targeting United Technologies right now (Hamilton Sundsrand in particular) but I am sure that I can make something happen. It's just frustrating to essentially take the last 8 years of professional experience and throw them out the window.

I know - it's a wonderful feeling. I spent 8 years building a successful career in the mortgage business. Not just a sales guy (the good ones made serious bank but went nowhere else in the company) but a well balanced manager, trainer, and overall business professional. Company closed, I figured I would transition my skillset to a new industry - staffing. I roughed it out for 4 months at Robert Half before I sat my boss down and told him they couldn't pay me enough to do that job. Left amicably, and have been working as an electrician ever since to pay the bills. Every day I am glad I don't work for Robert Half, but I miss having a real career to develop and challenge me.

This goes for anyone posting in this thread:

Want to be taken seriously? How about trying to spell properly, capitalize the things that should be capitalized (like schools, towns, states, degrees) and use proper punctuation (commas, periods, etc...). If you want a job, and there are people in this forum looking for people to hire, if you would like to be contacted, this one post should really be all about 'doing it right'.

+1.

Even with the growth of social networking (for business and pleasure) and the proliferation of e-mail, instant messaging, et. al., becoming the norm for communication, you must present yourself professionally. That said, try and think about what you put out there about yourself. Yes, work and play are separate, but if a potential employer finds questionable photos of you, or a post ranting about your current job/boss/whatever, they might reconsider the offer they have on the table for you.

Hey guys/girls,
I have been successful in the staffing industry for five years and would like to think I know what I am talking about.
I would like to offer my help to the unemployed on here. If you want to send me your resume I will take a look and offer my professional advice/opinion. PM for e-mail.I can offer advice, not work miracles.
In addition. I see too often a person sends out 100 resumes and never hears anything back on them. NEWS FLASH! there are 1000's sending out resumes to the same jobs. You need to follow up on the places where you submit, when you can. Be professional and agressive try to stick out from the other 1000 resumes, but in a good way. Also, networking is the key to finding a job fast. Don't be afraid to ask friends, family, ect. for help.

We have two inside sales and one outside sales positions we'll probably be filling in the next month. These are professional selling positions for engineering software (SolidWorks) and rapid prototyping machines (from Stratasys), not a "cloud of dust" type position offered in the auto, insurance, or mortgage industries.

The inside positions will be in Manchester, NH or Westborough, MA. Outside sales is a MA territory and you'd need a very successful track record in engineering-related sales. We don't plan to offer relocation assistance so we're looking for local residents.

Hint: we track everything when we hire salespeople. We ask them to send in a resume', and follow up with a phone call. We're never available for the first phone call, so you have to call back. When interviewed, we expect you to have researched our company, products, and competition. We figure that if a salesperson looking for a job isn't willing to devote that much effort to get an interview, they're certainly not willing to put much effort into the job, either. Take a guess about how many so-called salespeople actually take the few hours needed to do this successfully: about one out of 20 people who email resumes.

We also administer an online sales aptitude/interest test which has been pretty reliable at predicting who will be successful. Interest in Subarus will help you not one bit, other than this heads-up. Please, we only deal with individuals on their own behalf, not agencies. Listed on the website at: http://capinc.com/.

Alright, I was contacted by the girl who recruited me today, saying that one of the other candidates accepted an offer closer to home (Buffalo).

Therefore, they are looking for someone to fill the position ASAP, and asked me if anyone I knew with a similar background (Management Information Systems and Entrepreneurship) that was looking for a job. I don't really feel like searching through this, but anyone in IT with a little bit of experience, please let me know. There will also be a background/drug screening, so if you can't pass those, it might not be worth your while. Anyone interested PM me ASAP so I can forward information to the recruiter.
