Smile Been lurking on the bord for months...

Hi, all I've lurking on the bord for a few months now and thought I would come out and say hi.

I've been looking to get a WRX wagon, and was down at continental today. They want 2k on top of msrp I called down to a Seattle dealer and they have a few coming in the color I want *blue* w/ manual trans and some optional stuff at $500 under msrp, plus the optional stuff, around $25,500. The guy said shipping one up here would be around $700. What do guys think?

I would ensure that a list of optional items was provided prior to accepting the price. Shipping isn't a big deal and would be worthwhile if you can get it for the price specified. If you really want one tomorrow, I would talk to your sales person at Continental and mention the deal you have worked up in Seattle. They might be able to work something out with you. Otherwise, go for the Seattle deal and take it to Continental for future service trips.

Yah, I'm in no big rush to get one. I'm still saving up for my down payment and will see what kind of interest rate I can get from my bank. Thanks.

Tell Continental that you can get one for 500 under invoice and offer them 1000 under(or more?). If they don't take it, give them your number and tell them to call if they change their mind. Then walk out. That's what I'd do atleast. Usually those salesmen will bargain if they think they won't be making a sale otherwise.

If you end up getting it from Seattle, I'd talk to either Joe Spitz or Nik Forte at Carter Subaru.

I'm not sure how I found this thread, but hey, there's my $.02 worth.

Yeah, go to Continental and tell them about the deal. They are still smoking crack with the $2000 over invoice.

But I would make the offer and see what happens. The walking out thing is the best thing you can do. They will call the next day and throw in the STi exhaust (OK not really).

Later...Kris

Calll Auto Service Company up here in Fairbanks at 907-456-6217, ask for Shane. I would bet that you could get a WRX well under msrp., when I took one for a test drive the salesperson overheard me telling the wife that I didn't like the wing. I was told that they would credit me the price of the wing back to me. Imagine if you really negotiated with them.

I did that very thing and told them that I could get the car much cheaper in Seattle, and because my wife works for the airline I could fly down there for free. They sold me the car for MSRP which I thought was pretty fair. If they are offering $500.00 under plus $700.00 shipping you'll still come out ahead. If you do buy one here see Craig and tell him Ryan sent you maybe I can get one of those fabled $100.00 for sending a customer

I bought my car in Seattle form Carter Subaru for MSRP. It was a really easy thing too do. I did it that way cause the local dealer up here wasnt going to get a Yellow WRX. Took me Two days too get back to Fairbanks with the car, it was an awsome trip. And the car will be broke in when you get home.

Welcome to the site. I'm glad people are finding the forum.

When there are only a few of the cars that you want they can do anything they want. I would say wait until their next shipment when they have a large inventory and low ball them. Buying cars should never be hard. Just stick to what you want and don't let them talk you into anything. MSRP shouldn't be a problem to achieve.

Also, I would recommend the autobytel/etc.. sites, my brother picked his OB up for $500 below MSRP, just because he went thru the dealerships "email deals" dealer, as opposed to a regular salesman.

Also, If your not in a huge hurry, I would wait till the "end of year" or "xmas" sales, I picked up mine on 12/30 for ~1500 below MSRP

Yah I can get one from Seattle (Chaplins Bellevue Subaru) at $500 under msrp plus optional equipment. 5 speed wrx wagon with premium sound, cargo net, turbo gauge, armrest extension, and security upgrade.
So 24,557 plus any add local or state taxes, and add about $700 to get it up here.... we'll see....

Did you ask all the dealers up here what their vehicle allocation looks like for the next month? They might have something coming in. Ask the sales manager directly or you'll get some BS answer from salespeople.

I don't know if Auto Service Comp. has a blue wagon like you want in stock, but I would almost gaurantee that you could get the car for $1000 to $1500 below msrp. That is just the feeling that I got when I went in and priced out the WRX that I was thinking about buying. If I were you R-one I would at least give them a call, the worse that could happen is that they would tell you that don't have a WRX wagon like you want. If you didn't want to come up here to pick up the car it could be shipped to Anchorage for $140 (Fairbanks Auto Carriers price as of 3 weeks ago).
Good luck either way,
Brad
