Default ****erf*****er neighbor with no insurance hit me - Accurate Auto Body any good?

My bonehead neighbor, who street races his crappy turbo'd "5 lbs of boost" 98 mitsubishi eclipse, is an 18 year old kid who has no job and apparantly has no insurance either! I found that out the hard way when he hit me at-fault in our cul-de-sac today and backed right into my car. He was very apologetic and said he isn't able to see anything out of the back of his car because of the 5% tint and the design of the rear window. And also very sorry he has no insurance, so I called the King County Sheriff, it's unclear to me whether or not they gave him the $550 ticket for no insurance... I didn't see it and I thought he didn't, but on the accident report the cop wrote a citation number and put charge "No Insurance" for the other driver. Anyway, shady young kid and I'll never get any money from him. He damaged the rear driver's side door and quarter panel. Nothing huge, but it will still be expensive and a pain in the ASS to fix. Luckily, I have a $100 deductible for uninsured motorist, and this is sadly not the first time I've been hit by an uninsured motorist (Half the drivers in this state are uninsured I've become convinced) so with my "shrinking deductible" coverage I will have 0 deductible for this and get a rental car while it's fixed. Also since I'm not at fault and I have accident forgiveness my rate won't go up. However, mental anguish and suffering for my poor car, as well as spending my spare time dealing with this bull****, is not accounted for at all. So far, I've spent about 3 hours dealing with it already. Anyway, enough venting, as far as getting it fixed..
In the past I've used L&M auto Body in Kirkland. The owner Dave is a really nice guy but I wasn't super thrilled with how my car turned out last time. They tried to make it right but I still thought the quality was a bit lacking compared to when I had used them in the past.
Obviously with my 08 STI I'm EXTREMELY EXTREMELY nervous seeing as how it's 4 months old and I want it fixed PRISTINE
The guys in service and parts all seem to recommend Accurate Auto Body in redmond, and a few of them have had repairs done by them and I haven't heard anything bad. The other plus is they will come out to me to do the estimate, and they're fairly local to me(I live in Kingsgate). However, when I googled them, checkbook.org only rated them 70% ... Has anybody had body work done by them? How did it turn out? I've seen some other body shops highly rated here in the past, but I never paid much attention and the search is failing me.

Take him to court. Get your car back. He has the responsibility to "make you whole" agian. Insurance or not...he is responsible. The court will garnish his wages, or his parents wages. Don't roll over on this one.

That's a job for the insurance company, not me. That's why I pay them the big bucks. They'll pay for the repair, and hopefully they'll go after him.

come over to Queen City Auto Rebuild. Thats where I work. I'm a paint prepper there. My buddy's '08 Tribeca was involved in a hit and run a few months ago and had to get the quarter replaced. We are just about done with the car, just needs to be buffed and detailed. It takes a little longer for us but we do work on high end exotic cars and are very meticulous about the work we do these days. Currently we have a '84 Ferrari 512BB, '87 Testarossa, '89 308GT, and a '04 F430. Also have a couple Maserati Quattroportes in the shop as well. www.queencityautorebuild.com

I worked for Les Schwab here in Redmond as the head alignment guy. Did a lot of alignments for NASIOC members but they fired me a couple months ago because I took two Saturdays off in a row, one of which was for my sister's wedding. I wasn't a very good team player...

Dumbasses...

But yeah, I have a little reputation that I've built up

My pic of the damage didnt come out right. Ill have to take another one. As for his car... I'm not sure if it is an eclipse or not. That's what the cop wrote on the report, based on the guy's registration. I dunno. Whatever it is, it's ugly, has a horrible paint job, and now body damage in the rear bumper from where he backed into me. You cant tell how lame-o it is from the back but maybe you can get some idea.

Oh yeah. I did notice his tabs expire in 4 days. If they aren't updated, should I call the sheriff again and let him know? Or is that too evil? I reallyreallyreally doubt he's going to get his tabs updated.

Very true, I went to school with Accurate Auto Body's owner's son... I've never heard bad things about them, but they defiantly do not work on the high end cars that Queen City does

Sorry to hear this man. Sucks when people roll without any insurance. Its dangerous and expensive if things go bad. I hope everything works out for you man.

Accurate Auto Body is a great shop. (painted my better 1/2's rally car....)

I have no hesitation recommending them.

Queen city also does excellent work

Either way, the car will be repaired proper

best of luck to you.

You know, I'd try to make his parents pay for it, he obviously lives with them. Most parents won't leave you high and dry... but who knows these days.

I've used Accurate Autobody about a year ago, and don't want to ever use them again. You could probably find a lot of shops that do better work. There wasn't any major damage to my car (mostly cosmetic) and after promising my car would be done in 5 days, it took them an additional 3 days. Each extra day the story was, it'll be done tomorrow morning...sorry, try back in the afternoon...sorry, we'll call you at closing...sorry, it'll be done tomorrow morning (for 3 days that is incredibly frustrating). Then I finally got the car back and I'd rate the work mediocre. There was a decent scratch on the door handle they completely ignored, body panels have odd gaps (compared to the undamaged side) like they didn't go back together correctly, this white liquid spilled all over the wheel/tire/brake/hub and inside the gas door that they didn't clean up, and just an overall lack of professionalism from the staff. I know Accurate Autobody has some deal with Eastside Subaru since they recommended me to that shop, but I wouldn't take my car back there if I had the choice. You could do better. Price wise I don't know since insurance paid for the repairs.

are you really trying to be "that guy"? your allready going to be costing him thousands of dollars out of pocket and your seriously considering trying to get him into more legal trouble? I would simply tell him in passing if your that concerned about it.

and in this state its down to the day, there is a really good chance they are allready expired lol

sorry about your situation...

I got sideswiped on the freeway by some piece of trash whose 90's Cadillac's value was mostly in the wheels but had no insurance. They tried to flee too and i had to chase them down off the freeway.

Anyway I had had my new insurance for 6 hours when this happened. My company paid and went and "collected" from the party at fault. I eventually got a check from my insurance for the deductible they had also collected.

oh joy

First off, I didn't say I was going to do it, but I did think about it But yeah it would be fairly evil. Heh. I just really really really dislike street racers. As for thousands of dollars out of pocket, I highly doubt that. I'm sure my insurance company won't get a penny from him, they'll just write it off.

Re: the guy who said Eastside Subaru has a deal with accurate auto body, not true. There are just several people there convinced that they are the bomb, chiefly in parts and service. However, when I went online, of course I started seeing some bad reviews and that's what has me anxious (although there are some bad reviews for queen city too..) I guess probably the thing to do is get estimates from both? And see who comes off as more professional/knows what they are doing/tell me how they will fix my car?

if he is your neighbor.... ya he is a stupid kid... but since you dont have to pay out of pocket I wouldnt press the issue unless I was moving away soon

The tint is no excuse for him either... I can back my Baja down my long driveway using just the mirrors. Its amazing what properly adjusted mirrors do for rear visibility

Bodyworks in Bellevue did a very good job on my parents' Honda when it got rear-ended and thrown into the car ahead. It was mangled at both ends but now you'd never guess.

I work with a couple guys who were disappointed with QCAR. YMMV.
