Thumbs up Rota Subzero's

I'm not usually one to use non-name brand parts (especially if they're visible like rims), but I couldn't pass up the $500 shippped I paid for the Rota Subzero's in 17 x 7.5, and after putting 225/45/17 S03's on them on my WRX, I couldn't be happier with them. I drive them daily in the crappy streets of LA - always like I'm in an insane rage and in a hurry. I have run over nasty RR tracks, potholes, off the edge of curbs, over hideous pavement seams, and just generally abused them for the last 3000 miles, and they look the same as the day I took them out of the box. No complaints whatsoever. I have also received more compliments on them than any other rim I have ever used. Following is the text of a message Michael Rojas of Rota sent a friend of mine after he made an inquiry:

============
From: "Michael Rojas" <michael_rojas@rota-wheels.com.ph>

Yes, we do have some knock of styles, but does not mean we cannot make quality wheels. Our aluminum alloy, machines and processes are the same as the expensive brands out there.

Not everyone knows this but our plant makes wheels for the OEM (Original Equipment) as well for Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, BMW, Ford, Isuzu, Mazda and Kia. Our wheels are used by all of these car manufacturers in various markets around the world. Being a OEM producer, our facilites and quality systems are certified ISO 9001 and QS 9000, not even Volk Racing can say this.

We also have alliances with the Enkei group for additional technological advances.

Our products are insured to the tune of 2 million dollars per incident if ever they cause an accident.

In the aftermarket field, our name is not established yet and that is the reason why our price is low. That and the fact that the well known brands are making a ton of a profit on the US market. As we establish our name, we will start to shy away from knock offs and produce our own designs

So don't worry, we are not some small company buying wheels from Taiwan or China and putting on their own brand name. We are a wheel manufacturer backed by most of the Japanese automakers and our US subsidiary is 100% factory owned who can give you the after sales support you need.

We also have a very rigid testing regimen where our wheels are tested to OE standards and not just JWL or VIA. We also have an in house racing program wherein we have our own Ex-prodrive WRX rally car and 2 Civic type R's for circuit racing

We are the first ever wheel maker in Asia after Japan operating for 25 years in the OE field so we have the experience and know how to make the wheels.

I hope you try our wheels in the near future

my subzero's are hubcentric and they are nice. if u dont want to spend 300+ per rim or dont have the funds for it then these are the ones to get. lightweight, looks good and strong

I got the gold subzero's for my WRB sedan. The quality seems to be very good and they look great. With 225 width tires, they didn't seem to be materially heavier than the stock wheels.

but i hear those bend pretty easily compared to other heavier cast wheels.

when you buy wheels/tires, have enough budget to buy 6pcs instead of scraping pennies to barely buy 4pcs. it's very typical to bend wheels. i know i have.
