Default Thank you DC!

To a truly skilled, kind, honest and fair F1 driver.

Since following the sport starting in 2001, I never had a bad thought cross my mind about the guy. I had the chance to meet him several times, and he was always supremely polite to his fans - going out of his way for autographs and photos.

So sorry to see his last race end as it did today, but he certainly entertained us all for many years.

Post your happy "DC" memories here!

And for artkevin "She's a big one!"

One of my classmates from college is actually his very distant cousin. Glad to hear he's a nice guy.

I remember at my first race at Indy in 2001, I was hanging around right when they were trying to kick everyone out Friday at 6 PM. Just then, DC came out, and my ex-husband and I turned around and screamed and waved at him. DC saw us, and asked the "whistle nazi" guy guarding the gate (and I KNOW some of you know who I'm talking about) if we could come back in.

Whistle Nazi agreed, he waved us back in, and we met halfway. David was incredibly polite, and it meant so much to me to meet him that day.

All the times he had an issue on track and had to cross over towards the fans. Rather than taking the scooter back to the pits he stayed and signed autographs and talked with the fans. Truly a class act.

I just watched that video for the first time...

I'm not going to comment, because I don't want to presume anything about your post.

However, I'll just say, I don't think David did anything wrong. I think he let off to let Michael pass, and it was Michael's fault for running into the back of DC. It was also quite childish, IMO, for Schumacher to go storming down to the McLaren garage like a kid throwing a temper tantrum.

Regardless, please keep this thread positive.

He let up on the racing line, in the pouring rain. Plus, as you can tell from nearly any video, it's almost impossible to see even the Ferrari, never mind the black/grey McLaren.

A great racer, and a great gentleman.

I was a bit lukewarm on DC until his airplane crashed killing both pilots, and DC walked away. Always impressed me as a real man after that.

I'll miss you DC.

I always rooted for DC, glad to see he safely completed his F1 career. A rather bumpy last season but I'm glad he moved to RB after leaving McLaren.

Maybe there's something that will be reminding us of David in the future. I am talking about Dario Franchitti and his helmet

If I am not mistaken, I heard on ITV that Dario will get a test-drive with one of the F1 teams.

Who knows, may see that scottish flag helmet again. I don't think it's too likely though.

He just signed for Chip Ganassi again. I would be surprised if they had him do a "serious" test for F1.
