Default cheap snow tires?

I'm looking at getting snow tires this winter, but i want to spend as little as possible. I don't need a really fancy snow tire like the blizzaks, i just want some cheap tire that was designed for snow. Size doesn't have to be exactly OEM (205/55/16). Does anybody have any suggestions on brands and where i can get them?

Those seem like the best prices you will get for winter tires unless you go used. You can save money on used tires but remember to make sure they are all at the same tread depth, center diffs don't like different size tires.

If your car is not too low, you can go with these:

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...05&ar=60&rd=16

$78 ea, with free shipping. I've never used them but the reviews seem decent.

I have used the hankook W300, and they were decent for the money.

Buy used. See what's in the For Sale section. Look on Ebay. You should be able to find some sets that have a season or maybe two on them. Being cost effective depends upon how much wear they have. With some options, you may be stuck buying rims along with them. Sometimes tires and rims may be separate. Shop around.

$73 x 4 = $292

I bought my current winter set, used LM-25 with one season on them, 16" steel rims, for $275.

I've bougth a set of 4 Nokian WRs, used with 7mm left for $160 on Ebay.

i'm looking at some on ebay, but some of them aren't OEM size. One set i'm looking at are 225/60/16 on steelies. They were from a pontiac grand prix. Do you think that these would fit without a problem? I'm running prodrive springs right now.

Default New England Tire Salvage

I bought four lightly used Nokian Hakkalapitta snows for my Mitsu Eclipse stock 16x7 wheels from the New England Tire Salvage who does business on Ebay. I paid like $99 for the whole set of 4. These are used tires, so your mileage may vary quite literally. Worked for me like a charm, that's all I can say. I had great traction on the stocker wheels and a nice new blingy summer wheelset for my Kumho MXs. The strategy worked great.

Used snow tires can be a great deal but it's a bit of pot luck. Ya pays yer money and takes yer chances.

225/60/16 are way too big, especially if you are dropped. Here is a tire calculator: http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp
