Default $ 20 reward: how to kill the interior lights ?

I have a 2009 Forester and those stupid ligths by the interior rear view mirror that turn on automatically when you turn off the engine or open a door - how do you cancel that function? Permanently ?

I just want to turn them on manually (by pushing on them) when I need driver or front passenger lighting - I do not have a need to advertise to everyone up and down the street that I come in or out of my vehicle. I like darkness !

Is there some cool trick for it like the seatbelt chime ?
Thanks
f1

(before anyone tries to comment on this: these two lights are not controlled by the switch in the middle of the roof which controls the other interior lights. There is no switch for them and the manual suggests that only Subaru can do it)

The 20 dollar reward is valid. I will send a Jackson by mail to whoever gives me the code/combo of buttons to press/switches to flip etc.

I went to the dealer that I bought the car from: Mid City Subaru in Chicago (God Bless them gave me a great deal, 22,200 for a Forester X Premium with winter pkg, fogs, tweeters, shockie sensor, mats and delivery charge included in the price) but their service department is asking for 60 bucks (half an hour job for their union mechanics) to hook up the Subaru Sselect Monitor and kill my light.

There is no "combination" of buttons....you have to program the setting into the body control unit.

The only way to do it is to use the Select Monitor. I would find another dealer....they should do it as a courtesy.

I was suggested something on the Forester boards. I will give that a try. There is apparently a connector by the blower motor.

Make friends with a Subaru tech and give him 20$ to hook up the Select Monitor?

See if grand subaru will do it for you on some off-time. They're usually not too ridiculous.
