Default Loss of power, what is going on !!!

I was backing out of my friend's driveway, the car was cold. i heard this snapping sound. not too loud but i could hear it clearly in the cabin.

The car immediately started to behave strangely. i first heard this grinding sound like brake pad grinding on rotor when you have a rusted rotor or sticky brake. Then the car doesn't move much in first gear. Usualy even when there is no boost, the car have this "pull" feeling. But now its gone. So i thought my clutch is bad. but at 30000 miles, i refused to believe this.

When i finally got home. I realized that i dont get that first gear jerk any more. Usualy, if i am not careful with the throttle, my car will rock back and forth on first gear even at 10-20km/h. But its gone. I tried to go up to 3000rpm , the car is very slow, and when i quickly lift the throttle, i didn't get any jerking.

So i stopped the car and put it in neutral. I tried to rev it really quick to 3000-4000 rpm. my boost gauge shows no boost at all. Anyone know what could be wrong here? I have a 04 wrx with ZERO engine mod except a SPT exahust. The only thing i have on my car is brake pad, rotors and coilover, thats it. Is it save to drive it to the dealership? or will i be better off towing it there?

Hmm, did you throw any CELs?

Also, the snapping sound, did it sound like it came from the engine bay?

Also, what are you idling at?

Also, is this a JDM engine?(Since you posted in km)

any immediate modifications that could have caused this? A coil over too low will make this sound, and brakes that aren't sized right could do it too.

cels?

Usually when the car acts like that it is going into limp mode.

No CEL at all. I can't tell where the snapping sound is coming from, but it do sound like its either in engine bay or under drivers seat.

Now in first gear 3000 rpm, my car only goes up to 20km/h (about 12 miles per hour).

The car has 57000km (34000 miles). its a canadian car. Everything is original straight from the factory because i dont drive it much. The last time i put any mod on this car was 2 years ago when i installed coilovers and slotted rotors. Thats it.

I would take it to a mechanic at this point before more damage occurs. If you're driving on a broken axle you might screw up the differential.

So i took it to the dealership. I was told that the clutch is gone. I dont know if it was a real diagnose or if the mechanic just drove the car off the parking spot, felt that 1st gear was soft, then tell me its the clutch. i am being charged for the diagnose because clutch is not under warranty. I want to make sure that he did indeed checked out the car not just drive it off the spot then tell me its the clutch. What are the questions i should be asking the mechanic?

i do also have a few questions to ask all you experts:
1. the car was completely normal last night. i still remember going up to 5k rpm in 2nd and 3rd gear. having boost and everything. Then i turn on the car again, the clutch is gone? Does it happen that quickly? i thought if clutch is going bad, it would do that slowly.

2. Can i still build any boost with a bad clutch?

3. I tired to put the car in 5th while rolling at 40 miles/h, i then pressed the accel. pedal hard (didn't floor it though). I didn't see the rev shooting up at all. i tried that for 2nd and 3rd. they all seemed alright. Wouldn't this be the indicator that the clutch is still good?

4. could the snapping sound be the clutch bouncing off because it couldn't hold the rev any more ? ( i was slipping it briefly around 1-2k rpm while driving out of the drive way. my car is lowered, so i can't go out too fast).
