Default EJ20G Idle Issues?

I just got a 93 WRX. At Idle the car makes a sputtering sound or popping at random? Also at full throttle and car sometimes pulls harder and harder in spurts till it finally pulls consistantly to redline? Also its only making 6psi. Could the brass bead in the wastegate line cause the lower boost..........well removing it?

I would figure out the mis-fire issue first. That could be the reason for lower boost.

Start with the obvious(coils, injector wiring loose, etc) and work to the deeper stuff. Prob just have some bad plugs or a cracked coilpack. And, make sure your plugs are gapped properly, I personally gap mine at .027. Never have any issues.

Okay thanks. I ordered some new plugs and will try those tomorrow. While I am it I'll inspect the coils. I reset the ecu by unplugging the battery and it felt much stronger for a bit then started doing the samething. I am just letting the car sit for a bit and cool down to make sure its not the car being hot compared to cool because the car sat for a bit while I was restting the ecu. Also I put the stock wastegate lines back on and the car is hitting 11-12psi again but is still doing the above no change.

So its not a hot or cold issue. Reset the ECU and its much stronger for a few mins then its almost like it is pulling timing. Its not breaking up at 12psi like it is a spark issue either.

So I changed the plugs no change. The misfires at idle continue. Would a bad coil cause this? Would it also cause a loss of power through the rpm range sometimes?
