What is the surface like? Type? Does anyone know where the closest major airport is?

It's at the Lincoln airport. Bigger airport is Omaha. It's concrete and if you believe the MINI drivers the surface will eat your front tires. Other drivers report Forbes-like quality to the concrete. Except it's HUGE and has not had much motorsports activity to break it in.

I'm a little mixed on things as there isn't really anywhere to autocross on concrete within 400 miles of me and my only experience on concrete (Newport Pro Solo) wasn't very positive...

but I do feel a twinge of excitement when I see that pic.

I was told that the Newport event will be on the newer concrete that is the main runway. They are going to close it down and open one of the others for that weekend. Google Map's sat pic is not up to date enough to show the newly paved runway, probably in the passes 5 years. They plan to do a normal double course Prosolo. Wish we could get back Davis Field in Muskogee, OK here in the NEOKLA Region. We used to have T&T's there back when we were running Nats at Forbes. We would get people from all over. Like the Hollis's to get seat time on the surface as it was exactly like Forbes.
Also, possible big concrete site in SW Missouri near Joplin at the Ozark Mountain Region is working on great also.

I'm 501 miles from Newport, 436 miles from Peru, 461 miles from Toledo, and 404 from Dothan, AL. Laurinburg, NC is about 347 miles from me, but only about half of that is interstate and I think that is a runway site.

I don't think I'll be going back to Newport, especially if it is on the spring again. It was COLD there this year and we had to drive through a tornado to get there. I do think I would go to Blytheville. That is only about 390 from me.
