Default Car is NOT starting.... 05 Legacy LE. "ER CH" reading....

Hey guys, Got a tech question for you:

So one of my brothers customers has a 05 Legacy Limited Edition i. Auto, 40k miles. He says that for a week now, his car wont start. When he puts the key to 'On' position, the ODOMETER READS "ER CH". He had the car looked at to see if the Starter had problems, but it reads fine. He bought the car second hand, so he wanted to know if you guys might know whats wrong. I did a google and nothing came up.

Thanks guys.

it could be alot of things bro, when did the customer last do a tune up. Usually if it's not the starter/alternator, it's an ignition problem. gl with the fix and hopefully you can narrow down the problem!!!

A guess mind you, but it probably means "Error-Charge". An 05 is awfully new to be having serious tuneup related problems. A fuse, an ignition/charging system short or loose connection, maybe even a faulty battery. Can't believe a diagnostic computer doesn't give you at least a clue. Good Luck

That car can't issue "ER CH" but it can issue "Er HC" which means problem with high-speed CAN (Controller Area Network). General diagnosis procedure is at http://thel7.com/TSB/11-81-06.pdf but car probably should be towed to dealership.
