Default Limited Edition Porsche Cayman S Sport. Want x1million

Only 700 are to be produced. It's been lowered and is loaded with all of the optional handling goodies available to the Cayman S, and it has a bit more power than a normal S. It's colors mimic the GT3 RS paint schemes.

Is it worth $10k over the price of a standard Cayman S? Who would buy this instead of dropping the extra $5k on an entry level 911?

Who cares. It is badass.

Quote:
"The sweet flat-6 3.4 liter Boxer engine gets a modest bump to 303 horsepower with revised engine tuning, and the car has been lowered slightly. All the performance options that can be purchased with the Cayman S come standard on the limited edition Porsche Cayman S Sport, not limited to the inclusion of Porsche's new Active Suspension Management program, which should provide this mid-engined driver's dream with even greater cornering abilities."

I'm sure this will run circles around a base 911.

I don't "get" the Cayman. It made sense was Porsche kept the Boxster neutered, but now that the Boxster has the same HP why would you pay 4-14k more for a hardtop version of the Boxster?

Hot.

I remember when the Cayman first came out, my boss and his son were the first people to have them in western Canada. Both were Cayman S's, and they had a THIRD one they loaned out to high-end customers/friends.

Porsche snobs still think that if it isn't a 911, it doesn't belong in the lineup. Whatever! I'd rock a Cayman all day long.

Because Boxsters are for dentists.

So why didn't they strip a bunch of weight out to go with the GT3 paint scheme?

While I like the cayman, the answer to your question must be that porsche thinks its customers are retards. It makes no sense that the convertable is cheaper than the hardtop. The above car with lsd would be tits...

Haven't they always been about the same in HP?

The Cayman is basically just a hardtop Boxster that weights a smidge less, handles a smidge better, and looks much moar awesomer. (For about $5k more.)

Honestly, If I were given the option I'd probably choose a Boxster over a Cayman or 911 (assuming I wasn't allowed to resell the car). For me, the name of the game in a street car is fun, I don't give a **** what it's time around the ring is. A mid-enginded convertible that's got enough grip to scare me and a ride soft enough for longer trips has to be the most fun cruiser IMO.

A 911 without an "S" or combination of letters/numbers after it is worthless.

I doubt it would make a huge difference. Hell, the Lotus Elise with LSD is actually slower around the track than an LSD equiped one, and is harder to handle. In fact, Lotus recommends not optioning for the LSD. Go figure. Of course, Porsche /= Lotus, but I'm just saying.

I wish more people had this view.

You can get an 00-01 Boxster around here for about $19-20K, the same price as an 04-05 WRX, RX-8, etc.

It was tempting, when I was able to afford it.

The Cayman without TCS on is a pegleg machine exiting corners.
Don't even try to sell the 911 on the back seats. Unless you have a family of amputees they're uninhabitable.
