Another product I would highly recommend in place of the QEW is Optimum no-rinse. I can put up some before/after shots, the stuff is amazing.

I have never heard of doing this before. I might have to try it out.

Sounds like Seattle car owners will now enjoy the same rust problems that the Northeast has...

SEATTLE – Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels says the city will begin using salt in emergency winter weather situations to clear roads of snow and ice.

The move announced Wednesday comes just a week after the city was widely criticized for its efforts to plow and clear roads of snow and ice following an unusual string of snow storms and below freezing temperatures.

The city had then said it would not use salt to de-ice the roads, citing concerns for the environment. The city instead used sand.

“After reviewing our de-icing practices, I am ordering the Seattle Department of Transportation to start using salt in emergency situations when more than four inches of snow are predicted or when extreme weather is predicted to last more than three days," said Nickels. Specifically, the three days of extreme weather conditions refers to extreme cold.

Ultima Paint Guard Pro still holding up since the application on Oct. 31. It snowed today in NY and I just used a soft sponge to gently rinse off the salt. I used hot water, and it still froze to the car.. but at least all the crap is off. The sealant really does make a difference =)
