for all those attempting to disengage the valet mode for a 2004 and up sti. please disregard this thread and read your owners manual under section 2-17. it is written in plain english with 2 steps rather then "see above" on the beginning of this thread where it tells u 10. all u do to engage the vallet mode is press and hold the lock button for 2 seconds or more on your remote while the drivers side door is open and everything else is closed. and the same goes for disengaging it, but instead you hold the unlock/disarm button while the drivers side door is open for 2 or more seconds.

I'm running into a weird issue. I found another remote and was going to program it but it isn't working. I can get everything to work but after I enter the code twice it just beeps and nothing happens, then after a while the car beeps 5 times (signaling an error)

Something is happening because now none of my fobs work so its overwriting the old codes. I've done this before with no issues and know the system inside and out but I have no idea why it's doing this.

Btw, I have an 07 Impreza 2.5i

After looking above it seems I'm getting the same error as ScubieScottWRX and Osus14.

If I figure something out I'll let you guys know

Have a Nice Day? Clicking but not starting.

I have a 2002 wrx wagon. I replaced the battery, and the car went into valet mode with the security light blinking twice a second, and the clicking sound when I tried to start it. I called a dealership and they told me to hold the door open button on the FOB until the light went off. This worked on Monday, and I drove to work on tuesday, but the next 2 times I started the car, it made the clicking sound on the first turn of the key, then started on the second.

This morning I tried to start the car, and it just made the clicking sound. No security light, just clicking. I tried disconnecting the battery, the security module, holding down the door open button, nothing works. I can find no manual override button (although there is a square connector in the dash with nothing plugged into it). I am about to take out the starter and test it with the battery, or go to radio shack and buy a Serial to USB cable to plug my laptop into the ECU. If anyone has any idea what is going on here please let me know.

Default Help!!

Here's a question...I just picked up an 09 Impreza 2.5i. So far so good...except for a few little bugs....all the dealers fault really. Before I bought the car, one of the 1st questions I asked "are there key fobs for remote arm and disarming of the alarm?" The answer..."Yes, they are inside".

Guess what was missing....you guessed it...the fobs. They managed to get me 1, but sadly the service department was closed (and I had to fight with them to wave the $70 programming fee". So...I have an appointment monday...but figured I try to do it on my own.

My issue is...when I get to the point where I have to hit the lock button to enter the code, and I look at the code....it's not all numbers. It's alpha numaric. "###AA##A" What do do for the numbers 0 and the letters? When I try to enter them in, as a numeric value....nothing happens...and logic (at least my logic) would say don't enter anything for 0. But all I get is errors...do I have to wait for the dealership to use the fancy little computer?

Legacy

Are remotes interchangeable between years? Just bought an '06 Legacy 2.5i SE that came with one remote and one immobilizer key. I have a spare '02 Legacy remote kicking around (red/blue buttons) - could this be programmed into the new car? Would I use the new remote instructions or the old instructions?

I know that the newer remotes are now used for the older vehicles. I do not think that you can use an older remote on a newer vehicle (if they are not the same style). The newer remotes require a code, whereas the older ones use a series of programming steps.

If you were to try it, you might want to try the older method, seeing that the older remote is not going to have a code for it.

If it works, let us know.....but I don't think it will

Default Real time help with remote lock on 05 STi

I did a quick search and didn't see this addressed.

I got to my house and went to lock my car but it won't lock via the remote. My security light is blinking (not double blinking) and it WILL unlock with the remote if the doors are locked I've attempted the valet mode disable (unlock, open drivers door, hold unlock until light stops blinking) only nothing happens. I've manually locked and unlocked each door as well as opening and closing them. When I unlock my parking lights do flash twice.

Please help

Still looking for an answer I really wish I could fix my keyless.

Ill restate my issue again, I have a 2002 WRX. Fresh battery in the key fob (red light works when I press lock/unlock) but nothing happens when I press the buttons. It does not lock or unlock my doors, no beep, chirp etc. Nothing

I have followed the instructions on the first page for reprogramming but no horn/beep happens when I turn the key 10 times in 15 seconds. I have also disconnected my battery and tried to reprogram and still nothing

I have a 2002 Impreza WRX wagon and my stock alarm does not even work. I checked if I have the security and keyless entry module and I do have it. Also the horn that is on the passenger top corner of the engine bay. My security light does not flash. I bought a remote in hopes of getting it working; tried swapping modules and testing everything.

I bought the car like this, as is. Does anyone have this issue as well? I cannot turn on the system at all still. Any suggestions on what I have probably missed? Relays? Fuses? Any help would be great!

Default 07 STI Alarm Help

Hello,

My Alarm does not work. It chirps and blink the lights while arming/disarming, it honks the horn if I keep the lock button pressed, but if I open a door or the trunk while armed it does not activate.

I have a TT installed, but I disconnected it to test if that was the problem, with no success. I also disabled DRL's, which I had not tested to see if that is the problem yet.

It used to work before, when my car was stock. I then extensively modified it, but besides some led Lights, that's all I had done electrically.

Any help will be appreciated

Regards,

GS

BTW, today I reconnected the DRL's cable, but didn't help with the alarm. I attached connectors to the cable so I can retest if necessary.

The remote for my 92x stopped working over the weekend and a threw a new battery in it, but that did not help. I then followed the repromming steps in post #1. That did not help either. Today I cut up one of those LiveStrop type bracelets and doubled it up behind the circuit and it works like new now. Thanks for this tread.

I had the same issue. Tried the new battery in the remote with no luck, and reprogramming, I also had no beeps during the sequence. Once I added the reinforcement behind the buttons my remote works like a charm now. Try the LiveStrong or I Luv Boobies type bracelets. I put 2 pieces in and the remote barely went back together but I made it work. Good luck. If that doesnt work I would check with your local dealer and hope they don't rape you.

OK... my alarm goes off when I use the key to unlock the car. Tried the whole "valet mode" thing... unlock car, open door, hold unlock button until security light stops blinking... but the security light on my dash is not illuminated at all.

Is there some different procedure for the 07s?

Having a problem with my 2008 Impreza. The key fob won't unlock the driver's door, but it will unlock all the passenger doors. I can unlock it manually with the key, and, when I am in the car I can lock and unlock it with the power lock button. Also, I can lock the drivers door with the fob. The car isn't in valet mode (security light blinks once). What could be broken?

Would it be too much to ask for someone to create a switchblade key for the 2011 WRX? I mean, the fob is bigger than my balls and the the key, well, it's huge.

I've been using the factory alarm on my impreza and just recently when I lock the car and unlock it occasionally chirps. Sometimes it will do the sound other days no....not sure as to why...and it's the same with my passenger side front window it will occasionally not work...any clues?

I bought a 2007 Impreza 2.5i Sedan not even a week ago, from a Subaru dealership, it didn't come with any remotes and I thought nothing of it (I didn't know the car had keyless entry) -- until the day I took delivery. I tried unlocking the car with the key, after locking it from the inside when I got out, and had the alarm go off.

When I went back to the dealer to pick up my second key I asked them about it and was told I have two ways to avoid that: 1. Before I get out, while the car is still running, lock all 4 doors. Then unlock the driver's side door, turn the car off and get out, and re-lock the driver's side door. That will prevent the alarm from going off when I unlock the car with the key; 2. Don't lock my car.

Is it unreasonable for me to go back and ask that they provide me with at least one remote? Granted I should have been better informed about the car I was buying, but then again the sales person I have been dealing with KNEW the car had factory Keyless/Alarm and, for whatever reason, decided it wasn't necessary to explain to me that the reason the alarm went off like that was BECAUSE of the factory Keyless/Alarm and what I really needed was a new remote.

Good stuff here. Thanks REXYGIRL for the info you started.

I have had some issues with mine. Now mainly trying to get the other 3 doors to unlock with the fob after unlocking the drivers door. I usually have to press it three or four times before getting it to work.

Man I wish I had a trunk release button on the key fob for my 2.5i. My 2010 Forester does and I love it!
