The wire you cut for the turbo timer, so you can leave the car and lock it while running, needs to be hooked backup. That is how the key less entry talks to the ignition.

Alright, this is gonna make me sound like a moron but, if the car has the "keyless entry unit" does this mean the car has a factory alarm? I just bought a car that has an aftermarket alarm that i dont have a remote to and a bunch of the wires are cut/disconnected. What i would like to do is get rid of the aftermarket alarm and stick with the factory one. So if that box means i have a factory alarm can i get a new remote through the dealership?

recently I did a 2006 wrx motor swap, replaced all the wiring and everything, and what not, and the car runs great.

But the alarm wont get out of panic mode/valet mode. I can't use the fob/remote key to take it out of panic mode either! Does anyone know how to turn off the alarm/take it off of panic mode without the remote key?

After about 30 seconds I can start the car. but even when the car is running, if I open the door, it goes into panic mode again

NEED HELP ASAP!!!
(P.S.) I have tried every option on this whole thread already.
the turning the key 3 times to turn off the valet doesn't work
the alarm sounds WHENEVER the door is opened, whether the car is running or not
For some reason, I can't reset the alarm and the valet mode wont turn off. I even tried disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery (I tried it with the key in the ignition and out of it (when you do this, are the doors supposed to be open?)

Is there anything else I can try without taking it to the dealer?

I'm going to post a very beginner question here.. Does this apply if I don't have an alarm but I have keyless entry? I would love to have the car chirp and to have my headlights turn on when I unlock the car *granted I have them in the on position I suppose* but as stated, I don't have an alarm, I only have the keyless entry.. and I'd rather ask to find out rather than try, fail and be stuck with a car that hates me lol

Keyless entry is just that. You don't need the security system to have it.

Just like it says in the first few posts, hold both buttons at the same time and the system will let you know when you lock and unlock using the remote.

It is definately in valet mode. Are you sure it is a factory alarm? Is there another alarm system that was maybe hooked up at one time and not fully disconnected?

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. (This may require you to program the remote again, but I don't think so.)

This will reset the alarm system. I forget whether or not it will take it out of valet mode, but if not, try again by pressing and holding unlock on the remote until the light stops flashing. The drivers side door needs to be open and key OUT of the ignition.

Having a teardrop remote (as long as it is the replacement for the old style OEM) should not matter.

Alright I have a weird problem... I'm having an issue with my 2002 alarm... Just started yesterday... I just bought the car about a week ago and all of a sudden after I just finished pumping gas in my car, I got in and started it up like normal, the security light came on and the horn started sounding repeatedly... I was still able to drive it, but the horn was going off the whole way home... What do you think that could be? I also do not have a remote with the vehicle, only a key... I've tried turning the key in the ignition 3 times with all doors and windows closed... I will try and disconnect my battery tomorrow morning before work and see if that will fix the problem...

To you and to possibly anyone else that has had their original fob replaced with the teardrop style fob. I had the same issue with the lights not flashing but the horn sounding when i locked and unlocked the car. I found out as well that my car was in valet mode. I tried and tried to get it to come out using the factory procedure and had no success. I kept messing around and found out that if you are using the teardrop style fob. Instead of holding in the unlock button for 2+ seconds to take it in and out of valet mode. You must hold down the truck button for two+ seconds and it will alternate it from valet mode to no valet mode.

i accidentally quoted the wrong reply and wanted to quote your reply to help you figure out this issue. But to solve your no lights problem instead of using the unlock button to toggle valet mode. You must use the trunk latch button to toggle between valet and non valet mode. So follow the same procedure that you have been, but where it says to hold down the unlock button for 2+ seconds you must hold down the trunk latch button and your lights should start working again. Hope this helps you out.

I have an '04. It does not have the factory alarm installed but I was wondering if it was possible to add it on, or if the wiring wouldn't be there.
I looked in next the the hand break and didn't notice any extra harness for the security module.
Is there a wiring harness that I would have to buy with the relays and the security horn for the engine bay?
Thanks!

Alright, I've been searching the interwebs for at the very LEAST 3 hours today to figure out how to disable my factory alarm on my 05' WRX. My remote is fuxed, completely broken I tried to re-solder and of course it didn't work. I'm going to look like a complete idiot posting this but I am SO sick and tired of searching the same damn thing over and over and getting no results at all.
Basically, I hate hate hate leaving my vehicle unlocked. With my factory remote being kaput all I can do is manually lock which enables the alarm and when I unlock the alarm sounds. I KNOW-turn the key 3 times in 5 seconds to stop it, but it's getting so old having to do that in front of colleagues, at my condo (which worries me of complaints and eviction lawls) and being that I have a pretty expensive in-dash with removable "faceplate" I still think some 15 year old ****-head would try to steal it for the rush. I can't disable the alarm (DUHH) because of said broken remote and all I want to do is stop the alarm from sounding and I need my factory horn to work for legal reasons. I've found many many answers of disconnecting a module under the center console near the e-brake....tried it, no success. I've also read about numerous plugs behind the glovebox and kick-panel of drivers side. I removed the glovebox and there is no way in hell I'm going to just start disconnecting ****, same goes with the drivers side. Every search result I have gotten has given me instructions but no pictures or sufficient visual instructions of said plugs to disconnect. I would like it if the security light was still blinking for the mean time being that the closest Subaru dealership is pretty darn far away, and for while I'm going to be waiting on a replacement fob to re-program I just NEED to be able to lock my doors. Someone please help, I could care less if I seem like a complete numb-skull I just want this done. Thanks in advance

just curious, does the alarm arm itself if you manually lock the doors before exiting the car? I know some cars wont lock the drivers door unless you pull the interior door handle while locking - but try that?

if it doesnt arm, you've got yourself a temp solution...

if it does, why not disable the horn for the few days you'll be waiting for a remote?

Default Info on status lights / Valet mode wrong for 2008

OK so after reading every post in here and trying to figure out why my security / alarm light was acting differently after coming back from dealer work I found this post has wrong info. My car alarm light would blink really fast when I armed it and then would go blink blink....pause....blink blink etc. This was very different than how it behaved before the service where it would just blink....pause....blink....pause etc. After reading this thread everyone kept saying the double blink indicates your valet mode is on. This is wrong. After messing with it for 45 minutes here is what the manual says on page 2-15...

Quote:
6. Briefly press the button (for less than 2 seconds). All doors (and the rear gate on the 5-door) will lock, an electronic chirp will sound once, the turn signal lights will flash once, and the indicator lights will start flashing rapidly. After rapid flashing for 30 seconds (standby time), the indicator lights will then flash slowly (twice approximately every 2 seconds), indicating that the system has been armed for surveillance.
The single blink mode means your alarm is OFF and it's only operating in keyless entry mode. I confirmed this by turning the alarm off per the manual (key on, press unlock on driver door and immediately open the door while holding unlock for 10 seconds) the dash registers AL0F. I then checked the operation and sure enough it behaved just like before my service. I then turned the alarm back on and now have the fast blink for 30 seconds and a double blink pause routine.

If you have the double blink routine your system is working as intended ignore the 10+ posts in this thread telling you the car is in valet mode. If its doing this while driving all bets are off though.

Hope this helps some other confused person and makes them feel better because now their alarm is actually WORKING unlike mine for the first 4 months I owned it.

I have a 2008. Do you really have to turn the key in the ignition 10x? I actually hope so b/s that's not in the manual and so far following the manual isn't working. I'm assuming you're turning the key from the off position to the on position?

Your vehicle goes by the second set of directions...the harder procedure

This process is a little more difficult. You can either attempt the process below or take the vehicle to a dealer.

NOTE: You need the transmitters 'ID' code. This is either located on the bag the remote came in or inside the remote on the circuit board. It is an 8 digit number.

**Turn the key in the ignition 10 times within 15 seconds. You will hear a beep. If you do not hear a beep, start over.
That what it says here. If that's wrong then what is the correct procedure? Is it different than the owner's manual? Thanks.

If you don't hear the beep, make sure the 'beep' is turned on. You could also disconnect the battery and reset the system

Those are the correct instructions.

Should the tone be continuous throughout the procedure if you're doing it correct or does it stop once you start pressing the lock button? Thanks and sorry if I'm bothering you. I'm just getting frustrated on this end with the car.

Mmmm. My overhead lights don't work and I've seen some directions which say they should blink during this process. I wonder if that is why my attempts aren't working. Oh well, I'm bringing it to Subaru tomorrow to fix the lights and the radio. Perhaps then it will all work.

on a 2011 wrx...99% of the time when i get out and lock the car i get the chirp and the car locks, lights flash etc. I am a little OCD so i usually hit the lock button again so i hear a 2nd chirp.

the other 1% of the time on the 2nd push of the lock button the horn honks. What is this?
