We'll I finally figured out a sequence that works... And I'm getting the feedback noises now.. But I don't get a lock/unlock confirmation after I enter the code twice... Doesn't matter which fob I do, even the original...grrr

I read through every post in this thread and I still can't seem to program my extra key fob.

Does anyone know if the electronic chirp module has to be installed in order for this programming method to work?

I bought my car used and I believe the previous owner removed it (i.e. there's no sounds after cycling the key 10 times).

Edit: No matter what I do, the dome light doesn't flash, which I guess means I am not in programming mode.

Can anyone chime in?

The dome light has nothing to do with programming a remote.

Are you using the second method to program it?

Do you have the correct remote for the car? There are a few different ones, and although they look the same, they're not.

You wont be able to until you get a remote. THe only way to put it back in valet mode is with a remote.

Make sure you have the right remote for the car. There are at least 3 different teardrop remotes and not all of them will program to your car.

RexyGirl

I've read through most of this thread and I have yet to find anyone with this style of remote (see link).
http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...s/IMAG0129.jpg
Part number is SCI600125C. It's for the Alpine Alarm in my 04 WRX. So far I can program the orange/purple button remotes but the two 4 button remotes in the linked picture won't program. The crappy one in the picture (rh) was working until I tried to program a new SCI600125C now neither of them work but the orange/purple two button remotes work fine. Suggestions????

As a side note, the new one I got from the Dealership came in simulated carbon fiber. Looks kinda cool.

Neither one of those remotes are factory remotes...You will have to find an Alpine forum to see if someone can help you. I have no idea how to program non- factory remotes....most of them have different programming methods and the info in this thread is for factory remotes with factory installed alarm systems.

Sorry

I should of pointed out these are Canadian only Subaru remotes for Subaru installed Alpine systems. I just thought you might have heard of them. Thanks

From the research I found, it seems the alarm system you have was installed after, possibly at the dealer. According to the owners manual I found online, you should have the same remote as a US spec vehicle.

Check out an Alpine website and see if there is info on how to program them.

Thanks for the suggestion. These were the standard alarm installed by Subaru in Canada from like 2002-2004/5 I believe.
Not sure if this was already posted here or not but for peoples general knowledge here's a link to different years of Subaru's alarms.

Hi... My first post here haha... So heres the story, i bought a 2006 wrx wagon ((friggin love the thing)) but it had no alarm (or so i thought) one day i locked it and when i unlocked it the alarm went of, waited a couple mins and started the car. So because the dealership gave me no fobs i bought two teardrop fobs from ebay... Little i know that they were different kinds so i got the model with the trunk release... Two of them for a fairly good price.

I tried the difficult way to program them but get this... After the 10 key turns (or more) i cant listen to the chime, but if i open and close the door right after turning the key i would, weird huh.... So i proceeded with the lock/unlock combos... I think that worked because when i press lock or unlock the locks wont move. So i input the codes twice and wait... But nothing happens... Can someone point me in the right direction?? What am i doing wrong?? I tried different speeds, different amount of key turns... But nothing. I will appreciate it, oh!!! And if i have the wrong fobs which ones should i buy?? Thanks

Yes I am using the second method to program my remote. (I have an 07 STI)

As far as I know, I have the correct teardrop remote

It looks just like this:

It's 100% identical, inside and out, compared to my current (working) remote.

I know my chirp module is missing/broken so I would never hear the chirp (signifying entering programming mode) but does this affect whether or not I can program it?

Everytime I try to enter programming mode (by turning the key), the lock/unlock button starts locking/unlocking the doors after entering 2-3 numbers.

Maybe I should try finding someone with a good chirp module to mount on my car.

Subyroo.... Try opening and closing the driver door right after you turn the key 10 times, i cant hear the chirp either but my locks wont unlock/lock after i open the door and close it (which prob means that programing is working)

Default alarm system burning

Just bought my 02 bugeye about a month ago, amongst all the other problems I had to fix my security system started smoking and eventually burned a whole through the casing and cup holder. As soon as I noticed the smoke I unplugged it immediately. Any suggestions on how to replace it?

I have tried, and had two others try to program and am unable to complete the first step. i.e, i do not get the chirp after turning the key 10 times in 15 seconds.

I have tried fast, slow, timing everything.

Is there any mistakes any of you have made that you have later identified as the problem?
-I've tried with the alarm disabled (hold the lock button until 1 honk)
-I've tried with the alarm activated (hold the lock button until 2 honks)
-I've tried every door to make sure its close

I'm hoping there is something small and silly i've missed. Again, if anyone remembers any other causes for this please fill me in.
