Question ej20g halfcut in the rain

Hi guys. I normally post on rs25, but its down right now. So I thought I would give you guys a shot.

I have an ej20g halfcut thats been sitting outside for about a year, with an automatic tranny. The intake ports were SORTOF covered with plastic, but I'm sure some water got in. Is it worth keeping and rebuilding it? Or should I trash it and buy a new engine?

The cars are pretty water resilent. The worst thing I can think of happening is if water got all the way down to the cylinders. Valves can rust and need replacing and cylinder bores can rust and get pitted, sometimes so much so you can't rebore easily.

Was the intake manifold and throttlebody still installed?

i paid $900 bucks for my last half cut. it was a 95 wrx clip with 16g and z4 in it. it had horrible body damage, but the motor sure runs strong. it is a secret where i got it so cheap, i got everything for the swap incuding dash and interior, and tranny, breaks, everything a $4500 would cost, all for $900. let me know about that turbo, i need it.

Hmm okay. So if I open it up and as long as the cylinders are okay, its probably worth keeping? The intake manifold was not installed, but there was plastic over the intake ports. The engine was actually out of the body, sitting right next to it so there was no hood covering it. Message me in a week if you want to buy parts off of it, I will have decided what I'm gonna do by then.

Its cheap, good upgrade, bolt-in, and upgradeable when you need a rebuild.
