On the 2007 6MT, I use 3rd gear. On the 04-06 6MT, i use 4th.

+1 Id say 4th if its the 04-06 sti 6spd tranny.

If you have the longer gears from the 07+ sti 6spd then Id say tune in 3rd.

Hope this helps...

04-06 sti
3rd gear = 76 mph
4th gear = 99 mph

07 sti
3rd gear = 88 mph
4th gear = 117 mph

i think most tuners use 3rd on the 07 just for the safety factor of not running up to 120mph on the dyno.

as long as you realize that 3rd gear is gonna need to be a little more conservative since you now have 3 gears above it in which you are gonna be hitting higher loads sooner. especially pay attention to the wgdc's at the lower rpm since you will be hitting full boost ~1000-1500 rpm sooner in 6th gear than in 3rd.

Dyno it on 3rd Gear for the 2007 STi's.

But I believe 4th gear is the 1:1 Ratio.

I hate my 04-06STi Transmission.

I use 4th gear. Even though it is a long pull to high speeds, I like the extra load to help make sure that the tune will be stable on the street. Never have any problems with 07's overboosting in the higher gears when I tune then in 4th on the dyno.
