Default ? 2.2 block, 2.5 twin cam heads ?

well, the engine i shot the heads on (2.2) is still sitting in the car tent, and has been a great parts bin for two other engines... but it's still sitting there.

a buddy has some 2.5 twin cam heads laying arround his shop.... you thinking what i'm thinking ?

will it work ?
must make some more power... ?
is there a difference between 2.5 turbo heads and na heads ?

(some of you are thinking... why is this @$$ trying to do this)
i want something more fun to drive while i figure out my h6 master plan.

hoping some of you wiser suby guys can offer a learner some advice !

thanks guys !

eh... leave it how it is. Save the $$ for the H6 master plan. I had an EG33 for the master plan.....but it was just gonna cause more trouble for me so I sold the motor.

Yes you can do it. I mated '03 heads onto my '91 EJ22T shortblock.
2.5L turbo heads have an oil feed and drain, coolant feed, and may have different spec cams. Now turbo heads it depends which ones you're talking about. I'm assuming EJ257/Ej255 vs '96-'98 EJ22E heads?

i believe the two sets of 2.5 heads are out of a legacy gt, and an rs. both na heads, and the block came out of my 97 wagon... but the is not the original engine. when talking about the ej255-7, how can i tell the difference ? i was just going to put the head next to the block and see were the jackets line up....

i want t little more power. running a 95 legacy 2.2 with the dual outlet exhaust heads, with a 2.5 wrapped header, stock cat, borla cat back, opened air box, light head shave, and a very light exhaust port. (matched to cleaned header opening). sounds awesome, beats my buddys stock wagon, but i want a little more kick out of it for winter.... hehehehe (insert evil grin)

i found the clip on youtube of the wagon with a 2.2 block, and 2.0 heads, and that thing had some good pickup. this thing just needs to be fun enough to turn my attention to the 'big' engine. ill throw a couple more bucks at it, but have put enough into it for now.

^^^ Headgasket needs to match the block, not the heads.

If you throw those heads on an EJ22 block you get ~9.0:1 CR, lower than stock, but ready for a low boost turbo build. There is a ton of info on this particular build here. A search will answer all of your questions, but you probably have done that by now.
