Tranny's good then. 400whp is when sti's need to have their motor's built. 2.0s go around 300whp, at least that's the most I would say you could reliably run. 350whp you definitely would want forged internals.

You will need to add fuel injectors (1000cc's ought to work), fp (walbro 255), and turbo. Depending on if you have access to high octane, that really determines what size of turbo you should go with. I'd say something at least 44lbs/min (td05 7cm 20g).

I dont want to buy parts over and over again so where would I go about finding that turbo. I guess I could always just run lower boost till I am ready to hit that 350whp mark.

thank you for the help.

Check out Blouch Turbo. http://www.blouchturbo.com/turbos/WRX_20G_XT/

Lower boost works for sure. Do you have E85 in your area? That should help a bit with spool as well, plus give you safer power.

Also, don't for forget, you will need a tune with the new parts.

Funny I was just on that site and called them for some info and they even said not to do it. I have not done the trade yet but I am now thinking to just possibly pick up a 06-07 WRX they said that will do what I want "reliably"

I am pretty much back to square one again... lol Thank you so much for the help guys!

Guys you have been a HUGE help! This shows me how great this community is on NASIOC! I have ended up with a 2007 STI. My mission is still about the same and maybe more so towards the 380WHP range. Here are the current mods on the car and I will supply a link to the car as well so you guys can see what I picked up.

Under the hood:
EFI Logics protune-277/310
Acessport v2
Invidia v2(catless DP)
Blitz Nur Spec-R cat back
Zerosports intake pipe
Forge Bpv:tup:
Snorkus removal.

Thanks,
Phil

I just purchased a used 07 STi a month ago, i'm getting sick of the sound because its too loud. I think its an ebay setup that came on it, what is a good quiet system for DD?

Exh system?

Its SO subjective of a choice man. Tough to say.

I know I LOVED my TurboXS setup, with the standard (not the RFL) muffler.

The Prodrive is also an incredible axleback (you would need a system that uses a stock fitment axleback section, like the TurboXS stealthback)

The Greddy EVO II is fairly quiet from what I have seen (although its been years)

cobb, and the greddy evo2. i've ran the cobb (minus the taper) for 2 years and love it. i had an hks hi power b4 and it was a bit much for the wife on long car rides.

Ok, my current setup...

'03 WRX Wagon
K&N CAI
PDE UP & Catless DP
Borla Hush CBE
Cobb AP w/ Stage 2 map
Manual Boost Controller @ 18.5 lbs.

Car has 105,000 miles and is driven hard daily. It has run great on this setup for the last 40,000 miles, and 30,000 miles before that at 16.5 lbs. It now has some issues that I suspect may be injector related.

First question... for comparison, do you have any rough estimate on what kind of whp I might be putting down now? Based on whatever dyno, doesn't matter.

Now, what could I expect to put down with the following upgrades? And suggestions are welcome here.

Big 16G
Injectors (What size?)
Fuel Pump
ARC (or other) Big TMIC
Professional Dyno/Road Tune

I will probably go to a 3 port BCS instead of the manual controller. I'll probably also ditch the Cobb AP and go open source.

Thanks.

Hey, I'm looking for some suggested bolt-ons to finish up my set up before I get my dyno tune. I'm looking for 235whp (+/-10) with a heavy emphasis on fast, early throttle response.

2002 WRX 85k miles
Cobb catted TBE
Grimmspeed UP + Crosspipe (both coated)
APS 65mm CAI
Gimmick MAF hose + inlet
STi TMIC
Walboro 255
Grimmspeed 3 port EBCS

I'm probably going to boost ~17+ psi

How is my goal looking? Can you think of any parts I should definitely consider before going in for my tune?

Thanks!

100 hp? I hope you have enough to build the motor. You bought the wrong car. What you want is going to cost many thousands of dollars.

Well just got a settlement of $150,000. Was just seeing what cheap mods I can start with to close the gap. I am brand new to this. And want to build my car right. First Scoob I've owned. Have plenty of $ to toss around but wanna keep budget as low as possible. Looking to the Scoob gurus for help!!!!

Any reason you didn't get a WRX in the 1st place? That's your 100 hp difference right there stock vs stock.

Just figured I'd start from ground zero. And build it my way. Of course with the help of many knowledgeable people that is. Why buy cookie cutter? When you can build it totally your way. Then no one out there can say they have exactly what you do. Like I said I'm brand spanking new to this. Don't even know all the lingo yet...LOL!!! In fact know nearly nothing. Just that I want a sweet ass ride when all is said and done. Show me the way....please!!!!

I still have to say I think you picked the wrong platform to start with. My 06 WRX was only 11.2k ... of course it had a fresh motor and needed some TLC... but technically i could've left it the way it was and it would've been a fine car. I just got to start overhauling every dumbazz thing the PO did to it. Even with 100 more WHEEL horsepower in your 2.5i ... (which would require thousands), you still wont touch most 06-07 VF39 WRXs (if you're super new, this means an 04-06 STi turbo (and usually TMIC) swap. I'd say if you're serious about wanting power you should turn right around and trade that puppy in for the WRX... especially if you just got a "settlement". Not trying to burst your bubble about your new subie.. but most people with the 2.5i enjoy the car for other reasons beyond going fast

2007 sti, I'd like to get into the mid 300's at the wheels.
So far it has:
'04 block
Killer B Oil Pickup Tube
New '09 Nitrided Crankshaft
New rods
Cosworth bearings
ARP head studs
GReddy head gaskets
Cosworth Timing Belt Guide
GReddy timing belt
Tvg delete
ACT Heavy Duty Clutch

Cobb Cat-Back Exhaust / Invidia Downpipe w/high flow cat
A'pexi Short Ram Intake
Perrin silicone inlet
GReddy Profec B Spec 2 Boost Controller
Blitz FMIC
HKS bov
Labonte water meth
Wideband
255 pump
Stock injectors

I think that covers the performance stuff. Peak boost is 23.5 psi on 93 with meth.
So what is the next step to hit my power goals?

Anyone following the Import Tuner buildup of the 2011 STi? So far, with 3 parts, (intake, cat back and up pipe) and Ecutek tune, they've got it to 305 whp and 325 TQ. Baseline is 234 whp on dynapacks. I would be very happy with those numbers, especially since the bill comes to about 2 grand, give or take a few dollars.
