You need to multiply your budget by 7 before you even think about that. $1,000 will barely get your stage 2 on a budget. How many miles on your car? Also, that intake absolutely requires a tune to be used and needs to come off until then. Also, nothing you will do with that 16G will warrant a FMIC.

I would like to be sitting around 320-350 WHP. I understand there is alot to do to get there but I would like the opinon of guru's just to see what I may need to do to achieve my goals. FMIC, turbo, fuel ect...

Thanks in advanced

Brought this up to my wife and she thinks it is a really sweet idea, scored hella brownie points for it too. What needs to happen to get 421 WHP, her B-day is April 21.

hey guys - I'm not shooting for any particular power number. I'm just going to do some mild upgrades to make a fun daily driver at safe power levels. is my thought process on the right course?

-intake
-exhaust
-catted down pipe (is an up pipe worth while for my build plan?)
-dyno tune

I figure this will run around 2 grand and is pretty relaxed as far as difficulty and safety goes. from what I've seen this will probably put the car around 270whp/290tq, is that about right? would you change anything?

*edit* alright, research shows my $$ and power guesses were off by a decent amount. probably more around 2500-3000$, and more around 250whp/300tq. doesn't look like an intake does much of anything towards the results : )

1. HP at the WHEELS (whp) or hp at the CRANK (chp)?
Looking for 325 whp.

2. What type of dyno are you going to be shooting for this number on?
DynoDynamics

3. If possible, tell us what shop it is. Someone may know how high or low that particular dyno reads.
DB Performance in Rogers, Mn.

4. Where do you live? If not a well known city, what is the elevation?
Minneapolis, MN

5. What kind of gas will you be using? (octane level)
One map for E85 and one for 91 if I can't find E85.

6. Are you opposed to a FMIC?
Don't want a FMIC....snow and puddles in MN wouldn't help this!

Heres what I think I need.....
1000cc injectors
walbro 255 fp
full tbe (will be catted, Invidia)
Tuned to E85

Will that get my pretty close to 325 at the wheels on that dyno? I know they ready pretty high.... if not please give me some advice! Thanks

Lol I'm afraid you've been misinformed. DB dyno reads very very low. you will need at least a 20g to make those numbers, preferably on e85. An 18g might be able to get there with ridiculously high boost and E85. If you have the stock vf39 don't expect more than 280whp, even on E85.

converting money into fun

Default

2002 wrx. See mods below

1. ~300whp

2. Dynapack

3. Agile Automotive

4. Shop is in Maryland

5. One map for 93, one for E85

6. I'd like to have a FMIC. I realize it is not necessary.

Current Upgrades:
Light weight flywheel, equal length headers, SPT 3" turbo back exhaust, no cats, cold air intake

Tuned already on stock turbo with 242whp @ 17psi.

Additional upgrades:
Evo III 16g, FMIC, 850cc injectors, fuel pump

I realize that 300whp most likely won't happen on the 93 octane, which is what I would run most of the time. I'd expect 270-280. The E85 would be for the once in a while weekend fun. I'm not worried about the tranny. I don't dump the clutch or shift hard. Having said that, money will be set aside for the possible rebuild (thinking legacy gears).

I'll believe that when I see it. Don't know why you wouldn't just buy a GT-R with that kinda money, then put whole bunch of goodies into it. I bet it would be cheaper.

6. Are you opposed to a FMIC? (this way we dont recommend one if you dont want it, or we DO recommend it if you DO want it and it would be beneficial to your setup/goals) (sp?)
Opposed, strongly.

As far as the engine goes, I've already got a Grimmspeed UP and AEM CAI (yes, it's tuned for it but not on a dyno). I also put in a lightweight flywheel (street lite), which might affect the dyno reading.

Engine mods going in shortly are:
Grimmspeed crosspipe
P&P OE Headers
Invidia Catless DP
Tomei Expreme Ti Catback
Protune (on dyno)

What do you guys think I'll be looking at for numbers with these bits? What more will I need to meet my goal? I'd really like to maintain reliability and drivability. The car is my DD and also sees RallyX, TSD, and maybe some AutoX this year, so quick spool is definitely desired.

I'm thinking:

some kind of upgraded turbo (P&P stock?)
Turbo XS TMIC
RC 750cc fuel injectors
Deatschwerks 300LPH fuel pump
and I'm sure I've missed some key component here...

This is a long-term goal, and I'll have a PPG'd transmission by the time this happens, so that's not too much of a concern.

Wow, hitting higher horsepower sure is expensive when you add up all the aftermarket parts associated with their fees.

Here I am looking for some advice on where to go next with power. I have a 04 STi with cobb lw crank pulley, cobb sf air intake, lightweight flywheel, invidia catless dp, cobb accessport v1 stage 2. I imagine I'm somewhere around 255whp/280wtq and I'd like to be around 285whp/320wtq. I live in Florida and the nearest tuners are in Tampa, Jacksonville and Atlanta. I use 93 octane gas and do not want a FMIC.

I was thinking that an alc/water injection system might be good because it is inexpensive, and it would let me keep my stock vf39 turbo. I read that they are safe but I am n00b to them.

Any guesstimates on how much gain I would see in power and fuel economy with a good pro tune over the cobb apv1 stg2 93 map?
