Default 255/40/18s on my wagon

I currently run 225s on my 04 wagon on an 8" rim and they fit fine. Can I run 255s on that rim or will my tire rub? Thanks.

I believe it to be not very useful to stuff tires onto rims that do not allow the tire to perform at it's optimum level. 255 should be on 9" or wider. You could however mount them on the 8 and I am sure someone will pipe in who has. However, if you get 255's under a wagon without taking an english wheel to the fenders I would be surprised. The wheel bearings would suffer immensely. Not to mention each brand and style has different widths for 255; Toyo r888 245= some street tires 235. To require 255's to shoulder the burden you must be putting out some insane numbers for torque. There is a thread dedicated to wide stock on wagons and the setups that are working, check it out.

Check out tire specs on tirerack, they show the recommended tire sizes for each side.

255/40/18s should fit on an 8" because of the tall sidewall, but you'll most likely rub since it's much taller than the stock size tire.
