Default 2.5RS... whats it worth?

so im looking at a 1999 2.5RS with 98K miles...spd

motor is gone. blue in color, silver wheels.

interior is good to go.

plans are to hopefully just keep it stock.

is 3K a hefty fine for a car like this?

Cars like that have been going for $1500-2000 here in Colorado. But we got a lot of them delivered here so we tend to be below national market by $500 or so. $3k is an asking price I assume? That means the selling price is $2200-2500...

Let the guy be "firm" for a week or two. Someone with a popped motor is generally desperate and pretending that they are not. Just leave him be for a few days. Don't get desperate yourself. These are not rare cars. Deals are everywhere.

Dealer trade in: $4k
Private party pricing: $5.2k
Dealer sale: $6.4k

At least in my neck of the woods, in clean condition.

www.edmunds.com Go appraise the vehicle for sale and see what you get for your area code.

$3000 isn't that bad if it's really clean straight body and nice interior. I'd offer $2500 myself. It is worth between 5 and 6 thousand fixed IMO.

Right, for a car that doesn't need $2000-2500 of engine work (at least that's the book rate on the work. ) Around here that's usually only a negotiating point and the car will be getting fixed for much much less.
