Post Steering wheel rattles??

Ok, I need some help here... On bumpy corners, right or left hand corners, I get this rattling or light clunking sound that comes from the steering column (I think?) Anyone else familiar with this little annoyance? Should I take it to the dealer and have it looked at, or is it normal for Scoobies to do this?

I had the dealership look mine over while in for another problem and they said they couldn't find anything. I don't know... still makes me a little nervous...

I'm finding that the more I deal with dealerships, businesses, anywhere that provides a service really, the less I trust them. Why is it so hard to find a good business these days?

I've posted this a couple of times before...I've had it since I got the car, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that or what. Like you said, only on bumpy corners. I don't know, I've had the car checked out several times, and they've found nothing...but I'm kinda' (not much) glad that I'm not the only one...thought I was going crazy for a while. Post your findings (if any)

I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this!

i have the same rattling on bumpy corners; sounds like the steering components are coming loose! Haven't taken the car in yet though... but judging from everyone else, it would be a waste of time.

This is a chronic subie problem.

Bump/Rattle felt/heard in steering around bumpy turns.

There is a 'Subaru Noises' website out there that has a little bit (but not much) more info on it.

-Marc

PS- It is very annoying

Try cranking on the four screws holding the steering column plastic together. If that doesn't work, get some rubber washers and put them on the screws. And if that doesn't work, turn the radio up. You could also try wedging something between the two halves also.

It isn't the steering column that is rattling.

It feels like the strut tops aren't secured properly or something, however no subaru dealer has been able to fix the problem so far. Most won't even admit to a problem.

I have that problem from time to time. I just say "Screw it! I'm probably going to slow!"

could this be the start of the "Steering Wheel Noise" Group therapy group???

I guess I'll just have to turn up the radio!
