it means the cat is bad. how many miles? you should have an 8yr/80K mile on ur cats. if ur at 80K+ just upgrade to an aftermarket downpipe. OEM cats are generally $800-$1200 or even more sometimes.

if that cat is bad it is under warranty yet. To the OP, take it to the dealer, Emissions equipment is covered outside of the normal powertrain warranty.

yes

the dealer will likely reset the code and see if it comes back....if it comes back then the cat will be replaced

I have an 08 sti stage 2 about 1500 miles and this code popped up and it stopped my traction control from working, stopped my cruise control from working and it flashed on and off, and stopped my S I S# button from working???? The AP cleared the code, but what the ------??

when your car throws a check engine light it goes into "limp mode." everything you mentioned above is disabled.

Yes, usually the warranty on Emission related parts are 100,000mi. At least in Pa it is.

Well guess the state would have nothing to do with it. But most manufactures I've delt with will replace them under 100,000. Except for Mercedes, but they can make exceptions.

Federal Warranty for Cat Convertors is 8 years OR 80,000 miles whichever occurs first.

California Emission Warranty for Cat Convertors is 8 years or 100,000 miles for the following:

**Up to model year 2008- California, Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, New York

**2008 model year add the following: Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island,

**2009 model year add the following: New Jersey, Washington , Oregon

Minimum warranty is 8/80, unless you are in one of the above states and have that model year vehicle.
