Default Nissan GT-R named 2009 Motor Trend Car of the Year

Quote:
Here it is - your 2009 Motor Trend Car of the Year. The Nissan GT-R, aka Godzilla, has claimed the number one spot from other impressive contenders.

“The GT-R puts Nissan on a map that thus far only designated Maranello, Sant’ Agata, Munich, and Stuttgart as points of interest,” said Motor Trend editor Ron Kiino. ”Well, it’s time to stick a tack on Tochigi. In the kingdom of supercars, the GT-R positively belongs.

Be it comparing 0-to-60 sprints, quarter-mile times, 60-to-0 braking, or lateral acceleration, the GT-R is one of the world’s best.”
The Nissan GT-R took on the new BMW 135i, Acura TL, Jaguar XF, Hyundai Genesis, Pontiac G8, Dodge Challenger and many others for the title.

nice!

i think one of the more notable things that some people seem to overlook is the fact that hyundai has a car in the running. a testament of how a car manufacturer can reinvent itself to compete with the rest of the industry.

Very nice! It has its controversies and somewhat polarizing stylings, but it's tough to argue with a car that gives so much in terms of performance, equipment and technology for what amounts to a relatively low cost of entry compared to other cars in the same category.

Still wiping away the drool from seeing those Fujitsubo, Amuse, etc. exhausts from the Nismo thread... damn.

I meant to get back to you on that. He was told by the transportation ministry to stop doing that. It wasn't illegal per se, he just exploited a loophole in the law. Now that the law has been patched up, it's no longer possible.

Just get a license the 'proper' way. The test is not any more difficult than a license test in the states. Only a few laws are different. I was nervous at first, but I passed the first time around.
