Default Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X takes “2008 Sports Car of the Year” award

Quote:
has announced that the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X has won the title “Car of the Year” in the Sports segment. The latest vehicle competed with some very tough and, in some cases, very expensive rivals, consisting of the latest Volkswagen Scirocco and the Porsche 911.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X in a public vote won over the competition, with its stylish yet intimidating appearance and all the power and handling to support its rally-bred qualifications.

The board of judges, which included Mike Rutherford, Alistair Weaver, Ben Oliver and Nick Gibbs discovered that the car had “awesome amounts of power” and that the new Twin Clutch SST gearbox was outstanding. The viewing public agreed as well, selecting the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X into the top position well ahead of all its competition.

^

Awards are pretty meaningless when there's infinite of them passed out. Reminds me of field day in elementary school where even the losers got ribbons. The Evo did not lose the tug of war in third grade, dammit!

I'm thinking the UK channel named "Dave" gave out the award. Anyone that uses BTorrent to grab the WRC races has probably seen the Dave wrap up shows that recap the three days of a WRC race into a 42 minute (no commercials) show. Dave to the UK seems to be like Spike is to the US. Better that they picked the the Evo over the Camry though. Rally-based street cars getting good press is a good thing, even if it's not Subie this time around.
