Default Considering some 06/07 wheels for my 04 wagon...

Alright... I probably aught to have my arse kicked for making this thread, as I can't believe no one has posted pictures of what I'm about to ask.

I have a 2004 WRB wagon, and a relatively local person is offering a really good deal on on some 06/07 style 17" WRX wheels. I'd like to see some images of the wheels on cars like mine before driving to pick them up, but after searching and searching and searching, I can't seem to find any pictures of someone running the 06/07 style wheels on a 04/05 style wagon. Anyone know of any images that I am missing?

Of course, I can look at the many pictures of bugeye and hawkeye wagons with these wheels and pretty well envision what they will look like, but sometimes it's just nice to see an image on my exact body style without the guesswork.

Also, what say ye about this decision, Nasioc? I plan to paint the wheels a grayish/ gun metal color... Surely this would be a nice step up from my stock 16 inchers, right? Am I stepping up much in terms of unsprung weight? Do you think I might be better off just buying some used Rotas? (SSRs are my dream wheels, but I'm trying to keep additional mods to my car on a budget. )

Apologies if I'm asking something that has been hit on 1,000 times before. As said, for some reason I'm not worth a crap with the search button tonight, and haven't had any luck.

^^^

THANKS!!!

I think those wheels look pretty good... although they are not quite like the ones I am going to look at. Those appear to be off of an 08 model, and have a few more spokes than the 06/07 WRX wheels. The ones I may be buying have 7 spokes:

On a side note, after finding the weight of the above wheel, I am a little more undecided. According to what I found, the 16 inch 02-04 WRX wheels weigh 16.5 lbs each, whereas the 17" 06 wheels weigh 21 lbs apiece.

I'm wondering whether the slightly larger contact patch (my understanding is the 06 wheel is one inch taller and a half inch wider than mine) is worth the extra weight. If the info I found is true, I guess 4.5 extra unsprung pounds per corner is nothing to sneeze at.

:/

Yea i put those 06/07 wheels on my 02 wrx wagon just about 2 months ago and you will definitely feel a difference in acceleration due to the heavier weight. But grip while cornering was improved due to the shorter sidewalls and and wider wheel (both 02s and 06s have Re92's which will change soon). So it is definitely a trade off. There are some rotas out there you could probably get with a similar size but less weight, but would be a little pricier. Personally I like the look of them on my car better than the 02 wheels and I am happy with the improved cornering and for the price that i got mine i'm pretty happy.
