Default Need help locating!

I drive a 2002 Impreza 2.5 RS. I threw codes p0030, p0031, and p0171. The first two point to the bank 1 sensor 1 and the third is a precaution for running to lean, which is intertwined with the performance of bank 1. I need help locating the bank1 sensor 1. I am very new to working on this car and any help would be appreciated. thank you all

I'm pretty sure bank 1 sensor 1 is your front O2 sensor.

as to WHY you're getting these codes....we'll need more info.

Default O2 Sensor

i think ur right about the O2! I took a look, the front O2 looks damaged somehow, almost like the top there the wires connect is being corroded and delaminating. I need to replace that for sure. I was also wondering if you think I need to replace the 171 code as well, the lean air code, or if it will take care of itself once I get a new O2. Thanks again

Replace the O2 sensor, should take care of all your codes. Just for reference sake all knock sensors and O2 sensors will read "bank 1" there is no "bank 2" on a 4 cylinder engine. Its just OBD II standardized language for DTC's.

after you replaced the sensor, did you unhook the + on the battery, wait like 5 mins, to clear the code? then reconnect to start the car, you shouldn't be getting any code.

I used a scan tool and had the codes cleared that way. if it is any concern, I also replaced this same sensor in April of 07! Only lasted about a year and a half
