Default Tune and ECU reflash/remap?

I was thinking about getting an ECU reflash and remap and then a tune following.. Would there be any kind of gains from this?

Also, i've heard people talking about getting an AccessPort and playing around with maps on their imprezas getting some gains...

Any ideas? Thanks.

What is a remap? Do you know what an ECU reflash is? Why would you get a reflash and then get it tuned? I am very confused.

What changes have you made that would make any gains possible via a tune?
I havn't been over to RR forum lately, have they released def's for CAN-Bus based ECU interfaces yet?

Yeah, we can reflash CAN-bus cars now. However, definitions only exist for ROMs that have been submitted. I've now idea if there are yet any submitted NA ROMs.

To the OP, if you've got a stock engine, you'll see absolutely no gain in power at all with a tune. However, the car will get more drivable, which can be nice in and of itself.

Pay my way and my fiancee and I will be there in a heartbeat. We've always wanted to go to Alaska for a vacation.

Lol, I'd do it, but it'll cost more to get me up there than to find a tuner in Alaska or at least on the west coast somewhere.

Have you tried talking to shops that don't usually do imports? Tell them you'll provide the hardware and the software required for the tune and all they have to do is to provide the dyno and tuning expertise? I mean, the theory for tuning a NA subie is the same as for tuning an EFI Mopar, etc.
