Default can running TOO rich for too long throw a CEL?

I got my VF30, FP and STI injectors in last week, and (according to Phil at TXS) I got a bad chip, which won't let me hold boost (~10psi) and is making me run SUPER rich, my car backfires about every 10 minutes. I was driving home tonight from the gym, not going fast or anything and I notice my CEL finally comes on. I've never had one before. My car has about 13,800 miles on it.

would this be the problem?

although I do not have your set up.

I had a wacked out unichip that made the car run super rich. My garage with the Garage door open would smell gas and my plugs would be completely black. Car would run for a minute or two and then die out. It would throw a CEL MAF too high (I forget the code number now...). would start right away with no unichip and miss because of the fouled up plugs... I cleaned them and the car would run fine.

Hope I helped a bit.

Cheers

T.

I would also guess that running too rich "could" also end up
triggering a P0420 - Cat Inefficiency. The reason being that
running too rich translates into using all available oxygen for
combustion, and not leaving enough extra in the exhaust stream
for the catalytic convertor.

Hope you don't get any CELs!

What do you mean by "bad chip" ? The factory ECM? If you're talking about some aftermarket chip being bad, return that **** and get another one.

i am had a similar problem after i installed the injectors as well some 10psi of boost max, and it is running soo rich i cant even get above around 3000 rpms without bogging out, i would imagine it could throw a cel it threw one on my stock ecu when i drove around right after i put the injectors and fp in. however i chose not to go with the unichip so good luck.
