Official: 2009 Porsche Cayenne Diesel

The miracle finally happened! Porsche revealed today the diesel-version of its popular SUV! The new Cayenne Diesel comes with a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine (found on current Audi vehicles) developing 240 hp (176 kW) and an impressive 550 Nm of torque. With this new upgrade the vehicle has a fuel consumption of just 9.3 liters per 100 kilometers, with CO2 at 244 grams per kilometer.

The new Porsche Cayenne Diesel will be available from February 2009, equipped with the proven Tiptronic-S automatic gearbox as standard, with a price tag of €47,250 ($59,400). In Germany, the vehicle will cost, including 19 percent VAT and country-specific equipment costs €56,436 ($70,941).Unfortunately the new Cayenne model will initially be offered in Europe but the manufacturer said that preparations for market introduction in other countries are underway.

Doesn't the VW version of this car come with a v10 turbo diesel? Seems odd that Porsche would further dilute it's brand with a smaller motor.

The Touareg comes with 4 different diesels (174 hp 5-cyl, 240 hp V6, 313 hp V10 and 350 hp V10).

Is it just me or are the interiors on those things garbage for a premium German automaker... worse than Mercedes C-class.

I wouldn't call them garbage, but here you have Porsche trying to design a luxury interior... doesn't really gel in my mind, and it kinda shows in the results. C Class, I expect to be on-par with 3 Series Bimmers (entry-level luxury), which are feature-rich, but not necessarily the most refined out there. I find the C interior on a purely aesthetic level to be worse than both the Cayenne and 3.
