News TopSpeed RR2 (road race) gt35r build- 518whp 420tq on pumpgas

Wanted to post up and show the community what TopSpeed has been up to lately. This here is one of our prime examples of how all our hard work and r&d has paid off for you guys. In the last two years we have been changing and modifying our motor packages bringing us our latest creation the RR2 2.6L series.

We start off fully modifying the block halves to allow for better oiling to the rotating components. Next up we pin the stock sleeves to keep them from flexing under the hard pressures seen in road racing. Lastly we o-ring the block and install our race head package topped off with GSC S2 cams. This is the same motor package we have run the entire season in our time attack car without a single hickup.

Amazingly this was all done on the stock Intake manifold and stock ecu.

MODS: TopSpeed RR2 long block, TopSpeed gt35r .82ar, 1000cc injectors, UR fmic, Cobb APv2 (topspeed tune), Gruppe-s header, and a full 3" non-catted exhaust.

Boost was set at 21psi as we were only running 93oct shell pumpgas. Hence the reason tq is so low.

Enjoy,

Doug

wow 300ft/lbs@3800rpm is pretty sweet for a 35R. Then you got 518hp with 93 oct and only 21psi...wow!

MOST "typical" Subarus out there do not have this kind of powerband.

I wonder if TopSpeed has done "headwork" and "cams" to allow it to breath better up top like so. And I wonder if this is the 2.6L or a 2.5L.

I do....I just don't see specs in forms of numbers..... I do see that there is head work and such..... I'll go read more on the car if that makes you happier.

Thanks for making me feel in place.

If I'm not mistaken I think the RR2 also includes a billet crank right? If so that motor can spin to 10K.

I tuned it, yeah its a billet crank. The highest we recommend spinning them is 8k rpms. However I feel it should be ok to spin higher than that. Just not under roadrace conditions.

Nice Doug. Are you going to ever upgrade Lucy to a RR2 or do you see no point?

No the only difference between mine and the RR2 is the crank. I see no reason for me to rebuild my race car engine since I have had no issues with it. When it does finally need to be rebuilt I will switch to the RR2 crank and new CNC heads we are about to release.

We don't have a GD bodied race car. Just our GC time attack car and my 08sti that I will be running in some of the street classes next year.
