News Mitsubishi Drops Out Of 2009 Detroit Auto Show

DETROIT -- Mitsubishi has decided to pull out of the North American International Auto Show, which is scheduled for Jan. 2009.They are the fifth auto company to make the decision to pull out the show to save money in light of the economy, especially those plaguing the auto industry. This follows Rolls-Royce, Land Rover, Ferrari and Suzuki.
Porsche left after the 2006 event and has not returned.Mitsubishi does have a display at Los Angeles and plans to attend Chicago and New York auto shows. The company said Detroit is not a huge sales market for them.Detroit will have about 45-50 unveilings this year, Joe Serra, co-chair of the 2009 show told Automotive News.He said he understood the reasons and said other companies will fill the space."I know a lot of the manufacturers are making some very tough decisions right now," Serra said.
