Default Subaru factory security system

I wish I had the trunk release option on my FOB. I've heard that it does have another output for trunk release. Doesn't the WRX wagon have a hatch release acuator in their security system. I'm wondering if I could modify it to work on the WRX.

The hatch unlocks with the security key but does not pop it open. I think it will do what you are looking for without adding an aftermarket trunk release or whatever.

So it unlocks when you hit the button for the doors?

When you hit the unlock button it unlocks the driver side door. When you hit it a second time it unlocks all the rest of the doors, but to get any of the 5 doors open you have to pull the handle.

I guess there isn't another output for trunk release.

Yes, the CompuStar can do it. Just wanted a cheap solution until then. Winter is almost over. I'm thinking of using the money on suspension.

I am putting it on my GC8 coupe. I am attaching an extra actuator I got on ebay to the trunk latch. Then I am wiring the trunk actuator to the alarm when you hold down the unlock button. Right now it is hooked up so that when you hold down the button you get all doors unlocked. This annoys me so I am rewiring so that all doors unlock on one press, and the trunk pops when you hold it. I will post pics in the audio/security forum when i finish it next weekend.

What are you putting on your GC8? The Aladdin, CompuStar, or stock security system?

I have the factory alarm/keyless entry. All that I am adding is the trunk pop actuator, and rewiring to pop it with the remote.

Question

since this is about the factory security system, thought i'd ask some questions.

is it supposed to take a long time for the alarm to go off? i thought it'd go off if someone was pulling on the door handle. it took like 30 seconds for the alarm to come on. oh yeah, one day when it was really windy, the wind set off my alarm. is that normal? i was also thinking about getting an auto start, but some people said they don't make auto starts for manual cars.

I'm not sure wait the delay is when someone is pulling on the door handle. I'll go check. No, mine didn't come on right away. Took numerous tries before it came on. Yes, the wind can set off the alarm. The factory upgraded alarm system does have an impact sensor. And, yes you can add an autostart to manual cars. Aladdin and CompuStar to name a few.

I think Man and Machine is the only place in town that will do an install for a manual. But, yes you can put an auto start.

Actually I do not think that Man and Machine will even do an autostart for a manual anymore. I think Perfectionist is the only place that I know of. I also sell Aladdin alarm/auto-starts for the do-it-yourselfers. (can install them too)

Later...Kris

Welcome Blacknight. Love those V-Dubs.

There is one other place in town that does it and it isn't one of the larger places. I heard the commercial the other day on KFAT.

But Kris is probably the cheapest place for two-way systems.
