Default Drivers Republic GT2 v GTR around the Nurburgring

GT2 - 7:49
GTR - 7:55.9

"so we left the Ring on the close of the second day, the GT2 was the daddy"

PORSCHE GT2
“Given the times we set were both some-way off the manufacturers’ claims, how do we feel about those claims? Well, Walter’s time is 17-seconds faster than this, and having experienced the GT2 at full-afterburner, I have no doubt that the car will achieve that time. I could show you where I’ve lost five seconds on just a handful of sections.

NISSAN GTR
“could the Nissan really go 27-seconds faster? I just don’t know…but I just don’t see where another 27-seconds comes from with the car I drove. I felt that I came much closer to extracting the maximum performance of the Nissan on this single-flying-lap challenge than I did the Porsche.

FINAL
“But be in no doubt, when we left the Ring on the close of the second day, the GT2 was the daddy. We did the times and the Porsche won.”

Damn the GT-R is awesome, within 6 seconds of the GT2 on a 7-8min course?? It's supposed to be a 911 Turbo-fighter, glad to see it's hanging with GT2.

All these comparisons do is show what a bargain the GTR is.

The GTR offers 98.6% of the performance of the GT2, for 39.1% of the price! God, that GTR is awesome!

Some points:
-The track was wet in this test
-The GTR was on the Bridgestones instead of the Dunlops (the Dunlops are faster)
-The driver wasn't as experienced as the factory test drivers

Those all add up to a "No Duh the cars didn't set record lap times."

I like the choice quotes that monaroCountry pulled out. I guess he missed this one: "If anything, when you study its [the GTR's] performance here relative to a $131,000 sports car that benefits from the accomulated knowledge of a company that knows this place better than anyone else, it emerges from this test with an even stronger set of credentials."

There's absolutely no other logical answer as to why anything and everything he posts in any thread is crapping on the GTR. I'm convinced he gets paid to poke it with a stick constantly. In fact, I'm adding him to my ignore list now. There's enough spam on the internet without reading this guy's crap.

It should be illegal for any lap times from the nurburring to be published, especially by manufacturers. These stupid times vary so much from day to day and driver to driver that they hold zero significance.

Does monaroCountry even own a Subaru? If not, he must be a HUGE Subaru fan for him to specifically log on here and entertain us with GT-R vs Corvette news on a weekly basis.

I don't think he owns any original thoughts. He's the copy/paste master.

Maybe the OP is a closeted GT-R fan so tormented by the lust in his heart that he must bash the car at every opportunity.

His dreams torment him, and he is slowly losing his grip on automotive reality.

Or maybe he's just a tool who contributes nothing to this community. Vote for BAN.

Default Nissan Heading Back to the 'Ring With a 2010 GT-R

Quote:
We tried a fun experiment one day, back before the election. We set up the filters in our political forum to replace every instance of "Sarah Palin" with "Nissan GT-R", and the filters in The Car Lounge were tweaked to do exactly the opposite. At the end of the day, none of us could tell what post had originated from what forum. Even the one where someone professed the desire to mate with a Nissan GT-R and its cute glasses. The ratio of praise to bile in both was identical.

Nissan's throwing yet more grist into the mill, by announcing that they're returning to the Nürburgring in a 2010 (2009 in Japan) GT-R, in an attempt to break their previous (though unofficial) lap time of 7:29.03. It'll be a driver's event if the 7:29 is beaten, however, because changes to the '10 GT-R are limited to five more horsepower, a new Dunlop tire compound, and some tweaking of the suspension's damping rates. Hardly the kind of stuff that'll set the world on fire, and it's doubtful that will be enough to achieve Nissan's unspoken goal of beating the Corvette ZR-1's official time of 7:26.4

I third this motion.

He does just copy and paste **** all around the internet. He's posted the same exact post here on CorvetteForum.com (ironically, they are making fun of him there too), SupraForums.com, Fast-Autos.net, Subdriven.com, UltimateCarPage.com, AutomotiveForums.com, Carforums.net, Ferrarichat.com, FinalGear.com, E90Post.com, M3Forums.com ....

I think he just googles for forum posts regarding the GTR, and joins forums to bash that. Hell, he's even joined a Prius forum just to bash the GTR and nuthang on the Corvette.

He needs to be banned from the internet.

Without me who would know of Nissan's questionable testing procedure? People still believe to this day that the 270hp Nissan GTR R33 broke the 8 minutes mark around the Nurburgring (around 4 seconds slower than the R35 and the same time as the 550hp CTS-V).

Many Nissan fans were more than willing to read about and hear about the 7:29 ring time and how it was supposedly able to hang with the Porsche Carrerra GT, some even calling it a baby Veyron. There is a large section of the internet community that never believed this fantastic time and called Nissan out for it.

Some do make fun of my posts but others are more than happy to read about how a stock GTR truely performs under a fairly controlled conditions and by the same driver. Others are also glad to hear my posts re the various problems the car has had especially the transmission............BEFORE BUYING THE CAR.

Blah blah blah.

Major problems - do you really think that PRIUS owners give a flip?

You consistently post only the most rabid, anti GTR things in the world, and completely ignore the parts of the test where they comment that the GTR is in fact pretty damn awesome, especially given its price. Is your existence so narrow that you can only spam half the car forums on the internet with the same mindless drivel? Or are you really paid by GM to post this stuff? Don't you see how everyone dismisses everything you post because of your blatant bias?

You can't even realize that most of your posts show what an awesome bargain the GTR is. Anyone with half a brain can realize why most of these magazine tests don't match the GTR's 7:29 lap time - in this test, the track was wet, and the driver certainly didn't turn the thousands of laps that the Nissan test driver did.

Seriously, MonaroCountry - you make me ashamed to own a GTO.

I never posted this particular information on a Prius forum!!!!!

My post never took into account the price difference, it was all about performance and honesty. What I posted up was another review of the GTR and the GT2, my guess is that your angry because the GTR didnt win. Im in no way denying that the GTR is an excellent value car, it just doesnt perform they way Nissan hyped it up to be.

Quote:

When the GTR first came out with the 7:29 time how fast and how widespread did that news get around? Some people were interested in the fast manufacturer time, others are more interested in a stock production Nurburgring time.

Why do you think im being paid by GM? Where did I mention "GM" in my original post?

Again with the insults. Read the review and notice how they think that the condition suited the GTR far more than the more powerful GT2............yet the GTR was still slower.

So what has the GTO got to do with anything? It's a totally different car!!!!!
